Loss Of Distant Satellite Channels For RV's

cold temp and gelling

Hey guys I'm a new diesel owner (4 months), I'm getting the 70 horse EZ and was wondering how much I'll have to worry about egt's, the most I'll ever tow is two jeeps on a 25 ft gooseneck, but usually just one. A pre-turbo pyrometer is definitely in the plans, will probably keep the EZ on the highest setting all the time. I've got a straight 4 inch, to a 5 inch stack, and a K and N filter. Anyone towing with a similar set up, and I live in KY and will be towing through the mountains. Thanks.

Welcome aboard! You will find this to be a great source of information, no matter what subject :-laf . As far as towing on the EZ's highest setting be sure and watch your pyrometer, as I could hit 1400/1500 easily with just an empty truck. I see by your signature that you have an "03", our valve seats are not as resilient as the "04. 5's" and up, and have been told we probably should not let them see 1400 for anything more than momentary.

Have fun with your truck and enjoy!

Most would advise against running a pressure box on the higher settings all the time. High pressures have caused injector failures/cracking.

Do a search. There's plenty to read.

The gauge is a must. Many an engine has been cooked with only a little pressure box. :-laf

I have talked to the guys at Industial Injection and they recommend against running above level 2 as the injectors may crack.

I ran my EZ on level 4 (sometimes 6) for 170,000 miles before I puked a relief valve. I tow all the time, like 80% or more of my miles. Just shy of 250,000 miles now, last 70,000 miles with a Quad race box and an SPDiesel box now ... ... ... ... . still on original injectors.

I have an EZ on my 03. I've heard of the hidden level 5. But never a 6th level. How do you get there. I'll never use it, just wondering how it works.

I found that there was not much difference in seat of the pants performance measurement between Level 3 and Level 4. I did notice an increase in EGTs on Level 4, so with not real towing improvement, I have settled on Level 3.

Caution: you can easily exceed recommended EGTs, even on Level 3, especially towing loaded in 6th gear. 5th gear is the direct drive (1:1) gear on our transmissions and will keep the RPM high enough to keep adequate flow throug the motor. My sweet spot for power and low EGTs is about 2,100 RPM. Once you get your Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge, you will notice a direct relationship between RPM, load, and EGTs.

I've put 20k miles towing on the truck in the last year and and I never let the EGT (pre-turbo) stay above 1,250°F. Set the EZ to Level 3, enjoy the significant improvement in performance, and enjoy the trip. But always keep an eye on your EGT gauge!!!

I have an EZ. I put just the EZ in and noticed alot higher egts.

Then I put the little boost elbow on the turbo and they're much

better now. I run on level 3 all the time. No problems

But do keep an eye on the egt.
