FIRST POST-BEAR WITH ME.

I installed an Edge EZ last June. All A/OK 'till las tweek when the engine seemed to quit at 45 mph in 6th; engine light on dash came on, no throttle for 3-4 seconds and then on down the highway. Engine dash light remained on. About 5 miles later, symptoms repeated. No since. Engine light went off after 3 "good" trips.

Codes show: P1693 and P ECU with P0121. QUESTION: Has my EZ box caused this fault? Not taken to dealer yet as all seems well again but codes are resident in confuser. I'm concerned that with only 19k on the clock I'll be paying for the diagnosis and repair. Any thoughts.

QUESTION: Has my EZ box caused this fault?

My answer/opinion is: Maybe. But don't get too worked up. You'll get more help here than you can imagine. When (if) you go into the dealer, you'll be armed with all the right information. I wouldn't concern yourself with out of the pocket money at the dealership, just yet.

I have the P1693 code in my computer too. I couldn't clear it. From my best abilities to troubleshoot the problems I had previously (lift pump), I think the P1693 is a generic code regarding something to do with air flow or fuel flow. Most likely air flow. I wouldn't worry about that one.

In your case, I've never heard of P ECU. But the P0121 code means: Throttle position sensor signal does not correlate to manifold pressure sensor s

There's a way to recalibrate your TPS, but it may be bad. I don't really know how to recallibrate it. But somebody on here will. You may try that. If that don't work, take it to the dealer and tell them your TPS is malfunctioning. Remove anything that you don't want the dealer to see.

Thanks for reply, help me understand what an APPS is and are either of these influenced by the presense of the EZ? Am I my own warranty station on this? G'rrrr.

APPS is Accellerator pedal position sensor

to calibrate the APPS disconnect the batteries for 30 - 40 minutes, then reconnect batteries and sloooooowly apply the pedal to the floor.

Do you have a service manual?

Bob's right!

Bob, I know you're right. I was thinking it was called TPS (throttle position sensor), but now I remember having seen it called APPS. And that's the calibration method I have heard about also.

Thanks for the reply. I do not have a service manual. Geno's doesn't carry the 2002 version at last check. Is DC the only source?
