I've been reading the posts on this site for a long time and I finally joined-

Question: I'm having a difficult time deciding if I should buy a fueling box or some injectors. I've read some posts that claim that with the EZ box installed, the stock auto transmission is slipping? Some are saying it does not slip? I tow about 3 times a week under 3500# and like every lead foot in this forum, want more power.

I don't want to get into the transmission just yet - but maybe down the road I might, so what should I do next and keep the transmission solid? Injectors - which one? OR Fueling box - which one? What about smoke?

I do have the JRE 4" exhaust installed and k&N filter.

Thanks for the help... :)

EZ

You will be ok with the EZ these trannys are toughter than a lot of people give them credit for, I tow a 7k TT with no problems, but I dont Hot Rod with the trailer intow. ;)

No problem here......

The EZ is just what this truck needed to wake up. I'm hauling 10K GVW all day long and the transmission is fine with the EZ. I did have the pressure turned up on the valve body when I had the filter serviced as per reccomendations of Bill K.

I am saving now for the upgrades to the transmission, though I think this one would last just fine. I rode in one that was done and you wouldn't believe the difference!!!

EZ OK w/Auto

Welcome aboard:D

Ditto. You should not have a problem with just the PE EZ in regards to the transmission or smoke.

Although your towing is minimal you might want to consider also installing some gauges.

Although most people may have no problems, there are times, when you can and will slip the lockup clutch at low rpm's nd in OD,especially when pulling. If you do not know it is slipping, then you will kill the transmission. I was able to slip mine wiht nothing more than an EZ edge, pulling a little 1500 lb jetski trailer on a small incline. At the minimum Id crank up the line pressure as Bill K recommends,to help hold the clutches, and lockup a little tighter. Once you smoke the lockup,it slips easier every time, then you need to replace your Torque Convertorbefore the trash in it plugs the transmission screen and destroys the rest of the transmission.

How much does Bill K. recommend jacking up the line pressure to help the transmission with the EZ?? I have a 99 if that makes any difference.

Thanks!!:)

Best to ask Bill himself.....

Give him a call. I can't seem to find the 800 number right off. If you do a search you will find it. Or go to links and find DTT.

He had me raise mine 2 complete turns of the adjustment screw. Having no way to test pressure it was a good guestimate. Something like 3# of pressure per turn.

Again Bill recomended this for the weight of my truck as a daily driver and my driving habits. Give him a call, he is always ready to talk to you about your specific situation.
