I was wondering if there were any differences between Edge's EZ and Diesel Dynamics TTPM. I'm trying to decide between the two. Which one would you choose and why?

One thing that I noticed was the warrenty. Did you read the fuel box comparision thread,

Edge EZ offers a one year warranty and Diesel Dynamics offers a lifetime warranty

I like the DD warranty

I have the DD box and am happy with it. The deciding factor for me was that the DD version seems a little milder down low which I assume is a little more gentle for our transmissisons than the EZ version, but it still makes good usuable power for those of us that just tow and don't want to keep one eye glued to a EGT gauge all the time. Also I like the different jumper settings on the DD box. I can't remember the exact differences about the jumper settings between the two boxes, but if you do a search you should be able to find out.

I would buy the DD, it has a timing only setting if you do not want to add fuel and the timing is less agressive on all settings. The EZ can make a truck hammer pretty bad, the milder timing of the TTPM would help that a ton. You will eventually add injectors too, the DD TTPM is built for injectors, the EZ not so much so.

I went from DD TTPM to Edge Comp

I had a DD TTPM for about 8 months, then when the Edge Comp came out, I upgraded to that, so I have experience with both products.

All other BOMBs in mi sig were on the truck with both TTPM and Comp, so I think I have a fairly good comparrison.

As has been stated already, the DD version of Edge's boxes are toned down slightly on the timing, and are supposed to be optimized for DD injectors. I did notice my engine seemd to run ever so slightly smoother or evenly with the TTPM. I thought I noticed a slightly more aggressive, or "radical" sound when I installed my Comp, but it was only an audible difference. You will absolutely be happy either way, in my opinion.

TTPM

I had the TTPM untill I upgraded to the UFM. The TTPM was a excellent box that made all the difference in the world. Has three settings... ... timing only, timing and fuel above 20 psi, timing and fuel above 2 psi. I am not positive on the EZ but I think it's... . timing only, timing and fuel above 15 psi, and timing and fuel above 2 psi. The timing only feature on the EZ may not be right. Yes the DD uses less aggressive timing yet the power output seems to be the same. (word of mouth). There are several people that have used both and the general consensus seems to be that those that had were happier with the timing specs of the DD unit. Both however are of equal quality and you can't go wrong either way.

Word of advice..... There are many that have upgraded from the EZ\TTPM to the Comp\UFM and are selling their EZ\TTPM's in the TDR classifieds. Save some money and buy a used unit. I am sure someone would love to have an extra buck in their pocket. Good luck. :D

Thank you for the info. I had been wondering if their were any differences like you all discussed. I had looked at both web sites for the two and it was listed that the ttpm was 15hp less than the ez, also the torque was less seeing this confused me. I was under the assumption that one company might of made one box and everyone else marketed them with their logos. Thats what i thought.

I like what GDouglas said about the TTPM being toned down, my situation is alot like that. Me having an auto i think i would fill better at least untill I up grade the transmission, and when i do that I'll go with the injectors. I am just wanting to keep it simple for now, but also gain a little HP for towing. This is my first diesel and I'm learning alot from you guy's. Thanks TDR!!!

Tom G. I checked your web site, great pictures, I also have a love for Elk hunting!!!! :)
