Hard starting w/Edge EZ

I bought a Edge EZ for my dad's '03 6sp. I put it in set on level 1 since he tows a lot. I never put the boost elbow on. In the instructions is says the EZ performs fine without it. It the one TDR article they say that the turbo loses efficiency over 24psi. Should I put it on or leave it off. I don't know if its a good idea to get the boost too high.

A little more boost helps with cooling if it is elbow is adjustable you can set the boost to where you want it. My 03 made 22lbs of boost stock.
 
I tow around 15,000 pounds and run the EZ on Level 3. Since EGTs are usually the limiting factor on the longest, steep grades, I installed the boost elbow that came with the EZ, as Edge said it would help reduce EGTs.



I've been towing with the EZ for over 20,000 miles so far. It is really nice and a huge improvement.
 
Don't forget to take the boost elbow AND the module off before taking your truck in for service! Either will void a warranty, and a quick check of these pages will reveal tons of warranty work being done (u-joints, etc. ).



It'd be a shame to take the module out and forget about that little boost elbow! I can hear the dealer now: Bingo! GOTCHA! Oo.

When I ran my EZ, (now have TST) I always ran on Level 4 , also have gauges and knew when to watch them too. Ran the EZ elbow for a bit but took it out on the advice of a TD guru. Still running stock elbow with my TST PMCR box now!!
 
The boost elbow is certainly controversial :-{} , if in doubt leave it out :cool:



BUT IF YOU TOW... (without gauges) DO NOT EXCEED >#2.
 
I don't tow heavy and so haven't seen any over-boost at all running the boost elbow. No pun intended, but I think it gives the engine just a bit of an "edge" on those occasions when extra power is needed. I've tried over-boosting and it won't do it. I don't fear the elbow at all, although I'd like to hear the "TD guru's" reason for suggesting that it be taken out.
