For all of you interested in a remote switch for the EZ but were afraid to ask... ... ..... here you go... .....

I was throwing away an old AT computer case I had sitting in a closet(can you spell pac rat?),I noticed that there are a lot of conectors on the board that look the same as the jumpers on the EZ ,except they have wires coming out out of them(they are used for the LEDs,reset switch and such). I cut a couple of them,(3 prong),super glued them together, and voila!... ..... instant 6 prong wiring harness that plugs in the jumper slots, just add a switch.

note:i had to cut a hole in the back plate to insert the plug thru.

Total cost so far:$0... ... .

Good Idea!!

I never would have thought of that. That was one of the only draw backs to the ez having to pull plate and move jumpers acording to driving.

Just an update... . went to All Electronics(surplus store, dirt cheap)

got a 3 position rotary switch($1. 00)and a knob to match($0. 75)

mounted the switch just to the left of the cig lighter, hooked it all up(soldering required)... ... ... . works like a charm!

Good job.......

That was the hardest part doing mine was the jumpers. I only switched between 1 & 3, didn't feel like putting the rotary switch in. A little late now but the bottom row is all common. One wire from there and one for each setting would have worked.

Big White,

I know the bottoms are common(I hooked all 3 wires together, only 4 wires are running to the switch),personally considered the toggle switch, but a 3 position rotary looks better(at least to me)and I know what position I'm in at a quick glance, anyway I have another set of connectors(3 each of 2 pin plugs) with about a foot of wire attached,if anyone is interested its yours, first response takes it(no charge all you cheapskates!)

I'd like those connecters!

I've wanted to install a switch on my box, I just wasn't aware there was a connecter built that would fit.

I have been working on a remote switch set up for my Edge Pulse. I found that Molex makes ganged connectors that will work. The Pulse has 8 pins, 2 rows of 4 pins. If you do the research and measure the connector, you can find on their web site the correct part number. Here is the good part, they will send you for FREE a sample and you can also get FREE terminals too. Free shipping too. I made a second cover that has a cut out for the connector. Epoxied the connector so that with the new cover on the connector plugs into the jumpers. I still need to put on the terminals and wire it to switches in the cab. :D

Uncle Joe, have you switched settings while the engine is running?

Cary

sure did... ... . the smell of the exhust actually changes from 3 to 1 seting... ... well at least it stinks more on 3 then then 1 (smells like stock)... ... well to me it smells like victory

Cary.......

I've had mine on a switch for a while. I've had no problems switching while running.

Have you ever been to Gateway Electronics. They're in Kearny Mesa. On Chesapeake between Ruffin and Kearny Villa rd. Great electronics junk shop. They got tons of used jumpers and stuff like Uncle Joes mentioned plus anything new you might need.

Just turn it all the way up and leave it... . I don't see the point in turning it down? In my opinion the only adjustment you need is on your heavy fueling box.

I must be missing something. I don't know why you would change the settings on the EZ. Mine is on the highest setting and it seems pretty docile. I wouldn't think anything less would be worth doing. Am I missing the point.

I have found out that I have some issues, and like switches. I would put one in just to add to the collection of gadgets that I can turn on or off while driving.

Can someone refer me to the local 12 step support group for this?:D

I believe it's known as the TDR... most of us here seem to be gadget junkies. Switchs, gauges, black boxes for fuel, shut down timers, home brewed lift pump and filter setups. :D

I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have this support group, I know I'd have less stuff on my truck!

Smoke control.......

That's about the only reason, besides liking gadgets. I even put LEDs in to folllow my switch.

You get the same fueling at all switch levels. Only difference is when it applies the fuel. So for me in my heavy truck it's nice not top leave a cloud at every intersection. Too many tree huggers in this state.

1 word :mileage

As I found on the lowest setting the fuel mileage went up 4mpg compared to no box at all,so I can play when I want to,and still get good mileage on flat land(this is my story and I'm ... well you know the rest).

I do have to admit that I'm addicted to adding switches and LEDS

wherever I can fit them, must be some sort of a bug I caught from hanging around this site... ... ...
