I am planning out the bomb process and want to know if an Edge EZ acts as a boost fooler.

Can I use the EZ in conjunction with BIG injectors like the DD3s?

I WILL buy an EZ if this is the case.

Also, how big can I go on injectors with JUST the EZ?

I draw the line (for now) at upgrading the turbo. I do very little if any towing for now.

I just feel better about going with big injectors/tame box as opposed to smaller injectors and animal box (like PM3 or Drag comp) That's because I won't tap the pump until warranty is gone.

Thanks for the knowledge! You guys are the best around.

Hohn,

I've come to the same conclusion as you have. Smaller box, and bigger injectors. The EZ does act as a boost fooler. currently I'm trying to decide between an EZ or TTPM. After the DTT upgrade, DDIII for me. I don't think I'll need the pump wire pierced and since I have an early VP44, I'm not convinced it's a good idea. With an HY turbo, DDIII maybe a bit much?

Hohn,

Yes the ez will act as a boost fooler , this way you willnot set a code from high boost.

You can run any size injectors you want, large injectors arent enhanced or utilized to their fullest until you have a box to drive them harder.

As far as boxes I am partial towards Edgw and am recommending the Comp, without the pump wire hooked up it will bejust like an EZ, then when you desire mo-powa you hook up the pump wire.

One warning with these bombs... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... be prepared to do a clutch, When I did the EZ I was OK but when I added 275's the clutch wouldnt hold.

If warranty is an issue for ya, any lot monkey will know the truck is bombed with just the 3's, you can't hide 100HP. As they said EZ and injectors bye bye stock clutch. if you don't go with a bigger turbo you will get smoke in low boost situation with 3's. You will need a boost elbow or turbuckle to use the fuel(more boost = lower EGT's+) If you ever take the EZ off and boost elbow) to go to the dealer, smoke city + over boost code will likely result. Something to think about. BOMBS and warranty simply do not go together... ... ... ... ... ... .

The EZ should work fine with any size injectors, but watch your EGTs. May need big exhaust and air intake if you don't already have them as well as gauges.

EZ and DD3's are great

I've run this combo for the last year and they work great.

Never seen EGTs over 1000 (don't tow anything over 4k)

I do have 4" exhaust and stock HX35 turbo.

How will removing the EZ and boost elbow result in overboost codes? I'm thinking if you do this, a truck would then be a stock truck plus bigger injectors... which wouldn't cause an overboost code... would it??

I have 275's and was thinking of getting a EZ also. Instead of getting a boost elbow, I was thinking of the Turbo Master but I haven't seen much about them so I dont know. However, I did find those little clamps for the boost hose like Dodge uses. McMaster Carr sells them plus the special pliers to clamp them. So that could make it look original if taking it to a dealer... if thats what you want to do.

PS: How much smoke would 275's and EZ produce?

I think it would take HUGE injectors to make boost with the wastegate open. I did it with my PDR40. WG set @ 36 and @ WOT I hit 56 psi.

III's on a sorta stock ETC

opinions are like... ... ... . so here's mine. i'm running III's, no box, boost fooler and turnbuckle with max boost of 32PSI.

very little smoke, a puff with low boost, then boost builds and you're outa there. the HY is working great so far. towed about 10K through some eastern "mountains" yesterday, and highest EGT i saw was about 1150. trailer empty at about 2K and i could hardly tell it was back there. no plans for a box here.

Hohn, the dd3's and EZ work great, ive run them together. Reguardless of what others have said about the wastegate, with dd3s you will set an overboost code even without a boost elbow. there is just too much fuel/power to keep the turbo under 20psi. If you've seen an HX35 housing ,you'd see that only the rear 3 cylinders exhaust are wastgated,so the front 3 run the front 1/2 of the exhaust wheel without wastgating,so even when the wastegate is open, and dumping all the exhaust it can, there is enough drive pressure/heat to get over 20 psi due to the front 3 cyl running into the turbo unwastgated. On a stock truck or with 275,or even dd1's you can get away with running stock boost/no boost fooler. But the dd2's and 3's will overboost. By the way my wastegated hx35/14 housing is set at 32psi,it hits 32 with the box off or on levels 1,2. With comp on 5x5 it hits 39 psi, even with wastegate fully open above 32psi.

Thanks all!

I think that DD3's are going to be it with the EZ. The reason I don't want to tap the pump, though is less because of warranty and more because of the fragile pump.

Now, to get the $$$ or ££££ or €€€€€ hehehe

I've got 172,000 plus miles on the my truck with at least 160,000 of those miles with the pump wire tapped. I'm on my 3rd lift pump but the original VP pump is still kicking hard. knock on wood (really hard)

I have DDII's and the Edge EZ. I just dyno'd the truck last Saturday and put 352HP to the ground. My clutch has never slipped. I cannot get over 1300 on the exhaust temps in the middle of summer (100 degrees ambient temp). I really like this combination for my uses. As always, your uses may vary from mine. I have 30,000 miles on the truck now and all is well.
