How do you make the bedroom seem bigger?

Help in IL what plate B or D truck

I have been reading the TDR and threads and am planning on getting the Edge Insight CTS gauge. I wanted to get this gauge so that I could also incorporate the back-up camera.

My question concerns the EGT probe. I am concerned about tapping into the exhaust manifold. Drilling a hole in the exhaust manifold sounds like a challenging task, and it seems like it would be easy to mess up the tapping, leaving a person with a hole in their manifold to be filled.

Has anyone installed the EGT probe in a truck similar to mine (2012 2500)?

Would installing the probe void any aspects of warranty?

Thanks!

Good choice going with the Insight. Tons of threads and opinions on EGT probe installs and methods... ie: Remove turbo or not, grease drill bit to catch shavings, use magnet to catch shavings, drill tap and forget... All seem to work and I haven't seen any threads immediately posted of denied warranty due to EGT probe installs gone wrong on this forum or others I've looked at.

I know that my truck is not the same year, but the parts affected are the exact same. IMHO the drilling is the hardest part since the manifold is super thick at the recommended location and takes time and patience. The tapping part is easy since cast iron is relatively soft and pretty easy to work with. Just take your time and get it right.

I had a turbo replaced under warranty after I installed the probe, it did not cause any warranty issues with the dealer.

A good cobalt drill bit will chew through the manifold in no time. Get yourself a pencil magnet that will fit through the hole (as big as possible) once drilled to swab any shavings that may have fallen through.

Well, I finally got time to get the Edge Insight CTS installed this weekend. I got the dash mat from Geno's and installed that. I was pretty nervous about removing the plastic dash panel on the driver's side end and the pillar cover - seems contrary to my nature to tear into a new truck. But, that went well.

The Insight CTS install was easy other than my mental aversion to taking new things apart. The backup camera install was also simple, although it took a bit of time to route along the truck wiring harness from the rear of the truck into the cab. I had an empty fuse slot (seat heaters which the ST trim level does not have) and so I used the fuse jumper provided by Edge. I think a better thing would have been to tap into the reverse backup light wire with an in-line fuse - could have run forward with the camera wire. But, I think either way should work.

I did not yet drill the exhaust manifold and install the EGT probe - kind of thinking I might use the Insight to learn what it does and wait until warranty period is over.

My problem is that I get no backup camera on the Insight CTS display. This says to me that the CTS is not receiving a video signal. I used my volt-meter and I have power at the hot side when the key is in the ON position. I have never tried to troubleshoot anything video beyond checking that the cable hookups are correct. There are a couple of connections on the main camera cable I checked and they appear tight and correct. Is there a way to tell whether a video signal is going into the CTS display unit?

Anybody have any next steps on troubleshooting?

Thanks!

There are 5 egt probes post turbo. EGT1 is close to the turbo and I use the Insight to monitor its reading. Although I used pre-turbo in my other Rams, I plan to use EGT1 in this one as I don't plan to add power and use it more for cool down than to watch max power EGT.
