edge juice an attitude vs. smarty

now i know that all of you who have the smarty love it and i prolly would to but is it enough love to actually give up my on the fly adjustablility. also i have an 06 is there any issues with either one of them that i should be aware of besides transmission problems lol. thanks

Can adjust on the go what power level plus when the extra fuel comes on (sublevels).
Full set of guages.
Will not allow extra fueling until engine is at operating temps to protect engine.
Built in speed times, such as 0-60 and 1/4 mile with time and speed.

The Juice/Attitude makes just as much power if you unlock level 6. They both will make 160 Extra HP.

The reason so many are selling is that Smarty is the new flavor on the block, pumped up by guys trying to sell them on every website known to man.

The desire for me in a box was the protection features. Smarty can not do any of the protection features the Juice/Attitude can. The Smarty also fuels more in the low RPM's which will lead to transmission problems on a stock truck earlier.

I have supported Marco and his endeavors since he was first working on them back in 2001 I beleave it was. He's a great guy and I'am sure his product is awesome. You have to research and buy what you think is better for your application.

The CR Smarty is 170 hp. People should know it's a stand-alone programmer/box. It does not have guages but I have a Quad Commander and it has all those warning parameters though no defuel or turbo timer, etc, unless you use a Quad box.

I understand that the driver has alot to do with this also but if driven lightly which one between the edge juice and the smarty will get the better mileage?

Just thought of something else to consider.

If you have the Smarty program loaded on your truck and you drop the Smarty and break it, or you loose the Smarty somehow, or your Smarty gets stolen then what? Your stuck with the program and can not change it. What happens to your warranty if you have to go to the dealership for a break down? At best you could posiably buy another Smarty and change programs.

If the edge Juice/Attitude gets stolen theres nothing in the ECM to have to change. That would leave you the option of buying another Juice/Attitude or you could try something else if desired.

I doubt anyone would steal an edge juice/attitude because it would take a couple minutes longer than criminals want to take. With the Smarty it would be a smash window, grab Smarty downloader and run.

i saw better milage with the smarty on our 04 truck i did not really compare on our 05. i will be able to tell you soon how it compares for the 06 trucks though.



im not discrediting the edge product at all, it makes good power if thats all you want. if you plan on stacking and really making large numbers than the smarty will better suit you. like stated above the smarty does not have built in gauges or protection features. im sure if marco wanted he could add all of those defueling features if really needed. when adding power even with the edge it is easy to damage things if not careful. its all in what the driver demands from his truck.

with timing made us the better results. im still getting 19 mpg with mine on sw 9 in my 05 six speed. thats hand calculated and is what the drb3 says.

My smarty always stays within safe limits as far EGTs go. Even on #9... Great product and it impresses my friends with Edge products to the point they are considering the purchase of one...

I guess it depends on the Sponsor. I had a truck DOWN, and tried to get a pump from a TDR Sponsor b/c I couldn't get a hold of my local vendor (NOT because I wasn't trying desperately). I had met the sponser a few times , and the vendor WAS a good personal friend. I wasn't attempting to "price shop" or undermine anyone, I just NEEDED a pump before close of business and wanted to ensure that I could buy one and not be stuck for a weekend without a vehicle. Since I couldn't get a hold of my vendor, I called the Sponser. Well, the Sponser turned around and magically got a hold of my vendor then thew it in my face like I was attempting to do something underhanded.



The aftermath of a 5 minute phone call with a Sponser left more than a bad taste in my mouth for them, it also damaged a relationship with a good friend.



Moral of the story: All TDR sponsers are not created equal. Choose wisely.



NOW that that rant is over... To address your question, you should not have an issue with either the Edge or the Smarty. They are both quality products. As far as quality, I would say that TST and Smarty have a leg up on Edge. Bob Wagner has been known to let people test out Smarty's. SO you may try that route before settling on the edge.



If you go Smarty, GET GAUGES if you don't have them already.

i got gauges out of my old truck just not installed yet and my truck will prolly never see level 9 if i go with the smarty and anybody that is stupid enough to town on 9 better have alot more money than they do sense



any i appreciate all the comments BUT whats really important is also which on would give me better mileage if driven right

I try to get the best deal for my money since I have limited funds unlike others on this site. I shop and call trying to let the old american competition do my bidding. I feel that those who advertise low prices deserve my business rather than those who do not advertise low prices trying to lure in people who don't know any better to buy their products at high prices.

I've been stung by low priceing places and from reputable advertisers on this site and magazine. The reputable advertiser on this site and magazine was there to help me as long as I kept handing over money. They used me and my money to R&D their product and in the end forgot I even existed.

Now I try and forget about the terrible experience I had and go on trying to help others.

So perhaps I an opening Pandora's box here but I have found a local vendor here in the Elko,NV area that sells Edge products has two of them on his vehicles ( both chevys with the Duramax ) and has been VERY satisfied with them. He sells them from his full service RV center for $749. 00. I like to buy local whenever possible. Now with that all said what modifications are recommended to be made to the "now stock soon to be working harder" automatic transmission in my 06 ram? Is it as simple as new clutch packs, a well installed shift kit and upgraded valve body, such as what I had to do to my 99' CTD with the automatic? Keeping in mind that I not into drag racing and blowing smoke all around the countryside. ( I got that all out of my system with the 99' ) I am seeking more economy and the benefits of full set of gauges, safety stops, etc with the Edge product is very appealing? I will also occasionally tow a 8700# travel trailer over and through typical western US topography( flat, hills, LARGE mountains and sometimes extreme elevations)
