If you get or have guages and use a box on the lower settings you should not need transmission upgrades as these 48RE's are alot stouter than the 47RE you had in your 99. If your going to use a box or programmer on the upper settings then talk to this guy www.gbtransmissions.com He is very knowledgeable and trustworthy and honest. Will not sell you anything more than you really need. Just click on the link to go to his website. Oh and he is a sponsor, he has an ad in the TDR magazine. If your going to do any power upgrade and tow, get guages.

I second both of the above statements. Dave Goerand is an A-1 guy, and his transmissions are ROCK solid. I also agree that you are an ideal candidate for an Edge Juice/Attitude.

As for buying your box locally, if they are an autorized dealer from Edge, then go for it. I'm all for supporting the local guys.

Thnx for the replys guys. I dont plan on using the box to its limits. I got all of the drag racing out of my system with my 99 ( 4 tranmissions in 5 years). Finally a valve body from an early 03, new clutches and a guy that knew what he was doing with a transmission and problem solved. I have really been drawn toward the plug and play simplicity of the Edge product, with the added benifits of the complete line of gages that come bundeled with it. Now just to make the purchase and have it installed prior to May Madness.

The next project will be an inline pak brake ... .

thnx again

Jim

its seem you plan to use your mods with a bit of common sence. that being said, do you plan on being your own warrenty staition when your less that perfect injector goes out or whatever part that might not be right from the start? ive talked to a few service managers and they told me when a guy comes in with a pyro thats not connected to a guage its obvious what was there. the smarty wont be tracable.

im not telling you to try and burn the dealer as some do but at the same time they can burn you just because of that little box.

im sure bob or marco can help you out if your truck was broke into and they stole your smarty. of course id be more concerned with the damage to the truck myself. i like the safty features on the edge but considering your driving for milage you probably wont have to worry about that much. theres alot of 12v's out there getting by just fine without bells and whistles.

The Smarty comes with an unconditional 30 day money back garentee.

Whats the worse that can happen.

Try it and if you dont like it send it back and get all your money back.

The older crowd likes the features and the protection that the J/A offers. Well im not stupid and know how to read gauges and know not to tow 30K lbs up a 7% grade on SW#9.

Alot of bombers dont like the J/A because it defuels alot and is packed with alot of alerts and defuels.

I demand total control of my truck.

i know a guy thats on number 7 j/a. seems some of them have had reliability issues. i dont know if there still doing that though.

I appreciate all the talk about vendor problems and guys just typing to hear themself type about local shops and what nots I WANT TO HEAR FROM THE GUYS THAT HAVE RAN BOTH JUICE AND SMARTY AND WHICH ONE WILL PRODUCE BETTER MILEAGE IF DRIVEN ACCORDINGLY

THANKS AGAIN

Also recommend a search on "smarty juice" (or similiar)... . there were a few comparison / mileage discussions in the past Month... .

While I've not run the Smarty long enough to give any real data, I DO have real hard numbers regarding the Juice. I've been documenting its performance for a couple of months now. I also have solid numbers from before I installed it to compare it to.

The info I have coupled with info someone else may have about the Smarty would probably help you make a well informed decision.

However, I'm not inclined to share anything after your inflamatory post above.

well thanks alot andy man i see you where involved with this thread earlier why couldnt you just post you numbers are tell me you had this ealier since that is what the thread was about but instead we decided to talk about everything else under the sun i am trying to make a decision and i want it based mainly on mileage. Now you must be from the north and get you feelings hurt to easily. I wasnt lashing out at anyone. So if you want to do what we are here for and share information then i would invite you to post your numbers for me and all the others if not then why are you even a member. So thanks alot if you post the numbers and thanks for nothing if you want to act like an ------!

I have both... ... ... . Don't buy either for mileage! You can buy a lot of fuel for the money of either. If you are trying to save money put it in the bank:-laf I prefer the torque and responsiveness of the smarty. I find it easier to get mileage with the smarty. The juice I had to drive much more carefully to get better mileage.

My poor little feelings aren't hurt, I just think you're a jerk.

If I got a dollar everytime a thread I started took a detour or didn't get the replies I was looking for, I'd be rich.

Here's a tip: If you want to know about fuel economy for a particular box or set of boxes, PUT THAT IN THE TITLE, or at least in the first post. NOT 7 posts into the thread.

Good luck getting any information with your sorry attitude.
