Need Help With Jacobs Brake

I have an 05 with about 1200 miles on it. Is there a certain amount of milage or "break in" you guys are doing before you put the Edge Juice/Att. on? I am planning on pulling about 7500lbs on a hilly part of the hwy up here when I get about 1500 mi. on it to help with the break in. I also have questions on intake and exhaust. First of all is it neccessary with the 05. I have 4" all the way back, so rip out the cat and/or replace the stock muffler? Anyone have any data on whether this helps lower the EGT's, since it is already 4". As far as intakes, anyone running any oversize paper elements, I am aware of the oil type filters like AFE and K&N.

So far this truck has been awesome to drive Oo. . I have pulled a 4 place snowmachine trailer a couple times and it is soooooooooo much nicer than my HEMI I traded in. Just missing that get up and go when I go to pass... ... I imagine the Juice will take care of that though.

This is a great site! Been lurking around here for about a year, now I finally have a truck worthy of putting in my sig.

Thanks in advance for the info/advice

You can add the performance stuff at any time. With the Juice/Attitude, it will auto-backdown the power when you get to the preset (user adjustable) EGT limit. Exhaust (cat back) and intake will lower EGT's, so it takes longer to get to the backdown, and so the unit doesn't have to pull as much to hold EGT.

With the auto, keep it under power level 3.

Keith, or anybody else, do you think its ok to run the cat with juice/att?

And with the Auto transmission you're say keep it at level 3.

But a little 5 every once in a while to show off wont hurt too much will it? I will NEVER tow anything in this truck, so my logic says they make the transmission able to tow 15000 lbs, whats an extra 150 or so HP if the truck is always empty.

It si not the horsepower that kills it it's the torque :D

ok

so 40% extra torque IS a lot, but like I said, I dont see it as stressful as towing a 17,000 Lb load with stock torque. On the transmission that is.

I don't plan on getting one anytime soon but I'm curious what's the highest level you should go on an "05" with the G56 Manual?

I would guess about the same setting for a G56 HM. The stock clutches dont like torque any more than the 48RE that Ive noticed around here.

I've got the 05 with 48RE transmission. Broke it in at 500 miles on the ticker by throwing 11,000 pound trailer on and taking a road trip. Put the Juice with Attitude in. I drive empty on level 3, and tow on level 2, with no problems, haven't done anything higher until I upgrade transmission. I work with a guy that his brother has the same truck as me and is on his 6th transmission in less than 15,000 miles because he can't keep his foot out of it, and has to have the box turned up all the way at all times. The only thing that I have had happen to mine is I blew the stock plastic intercooler. The replacement metal one is holding good. I love my Juice/attitude combo, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

NLamke, you tow on level 2-what is the advertised HP and TQ on that level and what is the seat of the pants impression? What are your egts running. What level gives you the best mileage improvement and how much? Thanks

I have one

I have one on my 2005 I had 2500 miles when I added the juice with the monitor, dual exhaust and airraid intake. I run the truck hard and have had no problems. . I now have 10,000 miles and the truck is fine except for I need more, more power!!! :-laf ;)

i have one on my 05 22000 on it no problems so far run on 3x5 most of the time sometime on 5x5 runs good seems to pull harder on 3 than 5

horses

Someone told me once... ... ... ..... "it's not the horses under the hood, it's the jack-*** behind the wheel... ... ... ... ... ... I've been a jackass more than a few times. :D ;)
