I just installed Edge Juice with attitude on my 2005 . The manual says to limit boost to 36 psi. I can reach that easlily even in stock mode. Ican hit 40psi or so in level 3. How much boost can my stock turbo take? Also I'm getting 10% trans. slip. Is it time for a TC and VB upgrade?

Me too. I can easily see 38 PSI stock, and 40-42 with the Edge with Attitude. I also set my alarm at 40 and defuel at 42 PSI.

What a difference from the honkin turbo on my 1 gen. On a great day I see 16 PSI.

Mine's the same but I still have it set to defuel at 36. I still see peaks over 40 on 3. jimnance, i hear ya on the 16PSI boost. On the second gen, i'd be lucky to see 18 or 19 at WOT.

yes

and be careful with the boost unless you've already replaced your piece of garbage plastic intercooler. I blew the seals on mine a few weeks ago. Fortunately, the dealer replaced it with an aluminum one under warranty, but I was lucky.

My '05 manual is the same way, I just set the alarm to 42 psi and the max to 40, so far no problems.

I'm seeing the same thing on my 04. 5! it's easy to get to 36 and I am not ready to change the default setting in fear of something worse than losing the intercooler.

Bob, how long have you been running with those settings?

How are you guys getting 36-38 psi stock? My '06 (same as an '05) barely pushes 30 psi as a stock truck. Something must be going on even in the "stock" setting on the controller.

At 40 psi you are out of the efficient range of the turbo. Eventually it will kill the turbo but I think worse yet, you are running higher egts because of the small turbo and boost levels it can not support.

Of course if the turbo goes, it is a perfect excuse to fit a bigger one right :-laf

About 10,000 mi. I have heard that the compressor is about hx40 size, and my EGTs and intake air temps seem to be good at that level of boost. Of corse I dont "live" at that level, short runs now and then

First off, we're seeing over 36 with the edge/attitude on level 3. If i drop it down to stock, i'll still see peaks of up to 32 PSI. But, if I disable the protection features on the edge I can easily see peaks up to 45 PSI. It does make me a little nervous. But, if the turbo wasn't capable of producing that kind of pressure it just wouldn't. Also, if you're producing more pressure than the engine is taking in, you'll start blowing intercooler boots/seals or, you'll get a bark or stall. The occasional bark or stall probably doesn't hurt anything but if it's sustained, then you'd have problems. I've never experienced this anyway so I'm not worried about it.
