Yet Another 04.5 Mileage Question

Edge Vs. Tst

I was going to order gauges for my pickup, but I am wanting to get the Edge Juice. Does it come with attitude, or can you get it without? If you get it without can the settings be changed from inside the cab on the fly? Is the safe guards good enough that come with the attitude that you don't need to be too concerned about high egt temps if you are letting someone else drive you pickup on a long towing trip? Should I order a set of gauges, or just get the Juice with Attitude. Thanks alot guys

Dont know if you can buy separate or not. You can set the Attitude to chirp at you at any EGT you set. Or you can set it to defuel at any of your settings. You change your settings on the Attitude itself so that makes me think it is a package deal. If your worried about someone driving it you can also set it to chirp at any particular speed. My only gripe is a dial egt gauge is easier to read than a digital.

How does your 01 with the Banks compare to your 05? My 01 with Banks would eat my new one when it was stock.

I want to get the Juice but also want to have standard guages. I think the Attitude looks ugly and there doesn't seem to be a good place to install it.

New Juice

It's my understanding you can get the Juice w/out the Attitude, but you'll only get 3 (I believe) adjustments and not the 5 you get with the Attitutde and the Attitude will give you access to the higher Hp/Tq settings. There are nice safeguards built in with the alerts and defueling. I was pleased with the get up and go I had when I tested it earlier today. There was a question about placement of the Attitude. I already had the X-monitor and it mounts on the "A" pillar. I would assume most would place the Attitude on the "A" Pillar,... welll consider this placement that I just did. I put Velcro along the bottom side of the X-Monitor which is flat and horizontal to the dash line and then put a corresponding piece of Velcro on the top edge of the Attitude. Sweet!! This gave the Attitude plenty of support and the placement is perfect for vision and symetric with the dash lines for appearance. Also accessibility is excellent for on-the-fly adjustments. Other pluses I saw from the Juice was that it provided very good self-monitoring in that at WOT on level 5 (highest setting) I saw a boost of 34 and an EGT of 1099 as I backed out of it gently at 100mph. Obviously I wasn't pulling squat, but just hauling a. . those are pretty nice numbers I think. This is a SWEET unit. Glad I got it.

The 01 has alot more power than the 05, you can tell when pass for sure, I have had a couple of close calls already and I haven't even had the pickup for a month because I mash it down and it doesn't quite have the nuts that the 01 has.

I am also with EKoster on the gauge opinion, I would just asoon have anolog style gauges as the attitude controller, but I am quite interested in the safeguards with the attitude part.

A couple things on the late models,...

I have had an '04 555 and the 04. 5 600. Both these trucks seemed doggy when they were new as your '05 is. At a very minimum you need to get at least 5k miles on it before you declare it a pouch. Also step up to a heavy load,... say 12k or more and pull it up some nice grades for 2 or 300 miles and get it broke in a bit. Obviously it will take about 50k more miles to break it in. I've found that almost any box will take all the Turbo lag out of these trucks and your definitely not holding up any traffic. Good luck with your '05.

I am not by anymeans calling this outfit a pouch, it has good power, but the 01 has more power right now, that can be fixed though if needed. :-laf I am going to take about a 1600-1700 mile trip here about the end of the week through Montana with about a 7-8000 pound trailer, that should hopefully loosen her up a little.

Edge juice with attitude is awesome. How could you not like the monitor??? Yes you can change power levels on the fly.

This is where technology is taking us Edge is quick to lead the diesel industry. . I just don't know how you could not like the monitor unless you have never installed it or used it???

The juice/attitude combo is great. I still have a pillar gauges for pyro and boost that I use quite a bit cause I can just look up and see that I'm in the clear without giving too much thought. I ended putting my attitude on the steering column right below the rpm gauge. THe only thing I can't see while driving is the odometer. But having the ability to set parameters and the chip will backdown is great especially if someone else is driving your rig. Plus there are about 12 different things you can monitor from engine temp to intake temp. Yes it can make lots more power but having the ability to monitor your engine and know exactly what is going on is worth every penny.

sorry to ramble but just my 2 cents

Attitude compare with X-Monitor

smoke j,

Have you compared the Juice EGT with your normal guage? How do they compare? Hot, cold... equal?

I have both gauges and they compared precisely on boost and egt, FYI.

I put my juice/attitude in the cubby hole... it's still easy to read the display.

I stuck mine just below the cubby and above the cup tray. Clean and not obvious to some radio stealing knucklehead who wants to knock out my window thinking it is a satellite radio tuner. Gauges are easy to see. I still have access to the cubby and cup tray opens/closes, no problem.

The pillar mount that comes with it is a POS. Mounting options only disappointment I had. Current set up is great.

700rmk,

At about the 500 mark they are the same but my juice reads about 200-300 lower on the high end of the gauge. They are about 4 or 5" away in the manifold but I think one of them is off. At idle my juice reads about 330 and my dipricol reads 250-275 so i'm thinking I need to get my dipricol checked. How about yours?

Smoke J,

I think the Juice reads Hot on the low end and low on the high end... but I dont have regular guages to compare...

smokejunkie, I had the same readings as you, I changed the probes around, and got exactly the same in reverse, so I think the attitude is right on. Try it.

Installed pics

Ok, I think I'm sold on the Edge w/ attitude, but I would like to see some pics of the installs. Day and night shots would be great :D ! Also do you have the ability do adjust the brightness of the display? What and all can the attitude monitor and how? (i. e. do I have to install a pyro or is it through the factory computer?) I went to edges' website but it didn't show that the edge AND attitude is available for the 05's? or am I just crazy and forgot how do browse a website. Thanks for the info

You can adjust the light to 3 different settings. You'll have to install the pyro.

Does anyone know if the attitude is the "A2" or the Attitude that's been around for a while? One vendor's website showed the A2 and it looked sharp.
