When I got my 03 it already had an EDGE box on it - I just pulled the cover to see what the power settings were, and notice that the jumpers are set to Power Level "0". Does this mean that the EDGE box is not affecting anything, ie it is the same as stock performance?? Just wondered.

The truck has no guages on it  Luckily, the PO did not use it for towing  Before I start upping the jumpers to Poer Level 1 or 2, I need to get the guages on :D

Thanks,

Andy

Wow, 136 views!

Here's the scoop - which many would probably surmise - the good folks at Edge tell me that the Power Level 0 setting has no impact on the motor - it is like having a stock truck - OK, so maybe that is obvious

The tech dept person tells me that these units are typically shipped with a Power Level 3 setting.

My truck does not have the brass elbow/tube attached to the turbo housing which supposedly affects the waste gate and helps with lowering the EGT's when towing. Any folks have any experiences with this mod? Is it worth doing?

Thanks,

Andy

First, and EGT gauge is a necessity for highter power levels. Towing anything really heavy needs an EGT for safety.

I've run my EZ on Level 3 and 4. Level 3 for towing seems a really nice setting. Level 4 seems to only run the temperatures up more quickly with minimal seat of the pants improvement. With the stock turbo, Level 3 is about the maximum it will handle efficiently.

I installed the boost elbow immediately, since Edge says it helps to lower the EGTs and EGTs with a stock turbo almost always seem to be the limiting factor.

You will be very happy with Level 3. It makes for a huge improvement over stock. BUT, don't melt the engine!!! Install an EGT pyro and watch it. You will be surprised how quickly 1250°F will register when you have your truck loaded or really getting on it.

Thanks for the info - I have the guages - I need to get the right pillar mount pod - Summit sent the wrong one. I certainly do not plan on towing w/o guages - that is asking for trouble. OK, so I will also add the boost elbow if that helps keep EGT's lower. I also read the thread on the Roktek (sp?) timing advance and think that sounds like a good mod, too if it will help with economy and temps.

Cheers,

Andy
