I have been reading about Edge and Superchip performance and it seems that all the examples are for automatic trans. ( shift point etc. ) How are they on 6 speeds? With prices going up improved fuel mileage is just as important as overall performance. Any suggestions

Both work just fine with the manuals as well. If you are mostly interested in mileage, perhaps you should just get a set of Bosch RV275 injectors. This will give you a slight increase in mileage and an honest 42-hp. The power band is pretty much constant across the board. I went a little more and added Diesel Dynamic's True Torque Power Module (this is the same as an Edge but has a slightly less aggressive fueling curve as well as a 'timing only' setting). Some people will caution you about too much timing with the ETH. This is a great combo with the RV275's (or even larger injectors). I show a respectable gain in horsepower while also giving me an extra 0. 5 mpg in mileage.

One more thought is that the above combo might still work with your stock clutch. Mine is still holding at 83,000-miles, but I have a South Bend in my office for when it goes.

I just added a Edge Comp. to my set up and have noticed a 2MPG increase across the board. Around town, pulling small trailer loaded, and pulling 30' travel trailer. I all so asked Superships or Edge and everyone said Edge, I am very happy with it (Edge) and I did tap the pump wire. Hard to keep your foot out of it, when you have it. I am one who documents every thing with my truck, and have run three tanks thru since installing the Edge Comp.

PMurphy, do you ever plan on running injectors and a turbo. If you are then go with the Edge comp. If you are not going to go big then i would go with the super chip. You can add injectors with the super chip and turbo you just need a boost fooler but if you want smooth power and better fuel eco, then go with the super chip also you can change tire sizes and it has a code reader built into it

Sorry, I read the original post as having fuel mileage as being a concern. If you are running beyond what I recommended, you are not increasing mileage over stock. Please don't think that your overhead fuel mileage monitor is accurate after any change.

Hello David, what do you think about the EdgeEZ giving me about 65hp more to help tow a fiver. I'm installing gauges, and a K&N filter, but stock on everything else. I want a little more power but don't want clutch problems with 92,000 miles on it. Would the injectors be a better way to go?

the superchip is a good little tuner for the less aggressive driver/tow rig. drove with it off for a couple days, it felt like i had a huge load all the time.

for someone that wants a little more kick without having to bomb about everything just to keep it drivable i highly recommend it

I like it so far but a soon as my warrenty ends this month its on like donky kong. no more superchip and hello catcher comp injectors and turbo, after guages and trans of course.

with superchip i have only one beef. i ran at the track a while back and perfromance tow and performance yeilded the same times.

performance tow throws some pretty good smoke at low boost also.

Comp

i recomend the Comp because it is easily adjustable. I pull trailers that range from 500lbs to 14000 lbs all around CA and I love having the Comp. Edge has great customer service. The best part about it is if you want the power to smoke an import then you have but 3x3 is great for around town. With everything I have I get 3 to 3. 5 mpgs better than stock and approx. 4mpgs better towing (oh and am 18 and have a heavy right foot :-laf )

just my . 02
