Has anyone had a very slight rough idle after the installation of the 1. 5's? I got it all together, started right up and runs like mad, but its got a slight "lope" at idle, definatly is not a miss. I went back through my install again to check torques and such, found nothing. I used the DD intructions BTW. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Initially I would say not to worry. Mine idles a little rough specially when cold but smooths out when warm. If yours does it all of the time then you might wish to contact your supplier. Have your checked all injector lines for weeping?

I checked and rechecked everything. I am realy not too concerned, but it has'nt cleared up yet with 60 plus miles on them. It runs real smooth off idle, its just at idle when I get the slight lope.

One more thing, It idles about 50 rpm lower now with the new EDM's. I don't know if this is relevant or not, just trying to get as much info out on this as possible. It also ROLLS the smoke at low boost, but clears up after about 10psi.

You might check your connector tubes for corrosion. Quite often they corrode if they aren't taken out for several thousand miles. The corrosion can keep them from seating properly and results in a rough idle. Check the tips where they seat into the injector body.

----What Nathan said. .

Plus, you can use some 0000 steel wool to clean the corrosion off.

The 1. 5s should not "roll" smoke at all unless you are deliberately trying to.

Check your oil for diesel smell. Check the weeping near the 19mm injection line nuts.

Be careful you didn't overtighten the injector holddowns (the crossbars with the 8mm bolts). The torque spec is really low (like 70-80 INCH pounds). When these are overtightened, the crossover tube won't line up right, thus it won't seat properly, thus it won't run right.

I had overtightened the holddowns on my truck, and it caused a hard starting problem that was weird. The truck was constantly losing prime when it sat for any length of time (hard starting) and the fuel tank was pressurizing to the point where the cap would launch itself at me when I tried to fill up.

I learned that torque specs are there for a reason.

I torqued the injector hold downs to 89 in/lbs, and I looked at a couple of crossover tubes, not all, but the ones I looked at were clean as a whistle. Yes, if you stand in it, off idle it will smoke pretty good, but going easy on it it will barely puff. I'll check the torques again and look at the crossover tubes. Thanks guys.

I called Rip and talked to him today, he told me to unhook my batteries for 15 minutes, 5 of which with the key on. I did that, then reset the throttle and started it, it seems to be a lot smoother, will update later.

So, I diconnected the batteries, waited, hooked them back up, and voila, fixed, for about thirty seconds and went right back to idling rough. Any other opinions?? I need to feel better about these things. PLEASE?????

I had a similar idle quality issue when I first put in the Mach II's. When snapping throttle closed, rpm would undershoot, then bounce back up to around 850, then bounce around a bit at idle. It did go away after a couple of weeks. My (crackpot?) theory is that the ECM needs to "relearn" idle fueling quantities with the larger injectors and once relearned, things get back to normal.

I've got the mach 1. 5's also. They idle for me just like the stock ones did. Your experience with smoke sounds exactly like mine though. I've just had to learn to roll the throttle on properly.
