Trying out my EDM Mach 1. 5's today during the day. When I take off normally and shift to the next gear (six speed), I get a good puff of smoke out back. Seems to be just about every gear. More smoke through the first three though and this is with the comp off. With the comp on, smoke city! Could a 14CM tubine housing help or eliminate this? I'm at about the 3300 foot level and drive up to 4400 ft at times. Less smoke was one of the reasons I went for the EDM's. I'm just worried that Johnny Law will be back in traffic somewhere and come after me when he see's excessive smoke :--) . I know tweaked diesels will smoke, but I was hoping my right foot can control it.

Wow,my dads runnning Don Ms mach 2. 5s,they are virtually smoke free unless you stomp it at idle in gear, otherwise they are very clean. im running Don M's Mach 6's, IMO they are extrememly clean, and smoke free. In fact they smoke way less than my diesel dynamics supermental injectors, and make double the power. I can drive easily with my 93% DTT tc(extremely tight),and not smoke in traffic, without even feathering the throttle. In fact i tow my white 9000 lb Sunnybrook with them, and theres no soot on the trailer after a 200+ mile trip, even in 90 degree weather. Even on 5x5 with the box on kill,if im easy on it for the first 5psi of boost. i can plant my foot and get only a whiff of smoke then it cleans right up smoke free. Im running PDR twins, there a lot laggier than the stock turbo with a 14 housing.

Try turining the comp on,and adjusting the sub fueling to level 2,and try that. If im worried about smoke i run mine on level 1x1,and i can plant my foot anytime and never get more than a what i would call stock smoke levels(just a little wiff on initial hard acceleration. Sub level 1 with twins is a little laggy i think youd be ok with sub level 2. it should smoke much less with the comp on either 1x1 or 1x2,although you will pay with slightly slower spool up.

Snowmans right about the EDMS smoking less. I think you have some thing wrong with your charger, for example wastegate leaking or stuck,or a exhaust wheel damaged,or a siezing shaft,or just too big an exhaust housing.

I have a stock turbo and housing and I have noticed the turbo boost is real responsive ever since I installed the comp before the injectors. If I accelerate in the upper gears, my boost will go from 5 PSI to somewhere between 25 and 35 PSI in a split second and that's with the comp off. Never seen the stock step up go to the stock 20 psi that fast.

I did some more test driving today and noticed that if I drive normal which is just shifting at normal RPMs and give it some pedal after shifting, that's where the good puff of smoke comes out. If I rev the RPMs higher before shifting and complete the shift and get back into the pedal, I don't see any.
