what size wastegate on 35/3b twins

Gages for the true Mopar fan

Looking to go bigger on my injectors. I currently have a PDR35 with a 12cm housing, but I have a wastegated 14cm on the shelf.

I'm looking for opions on the biggest streetable injector out there. I have 3. 54s, a tight convertor and rarley tow any more than 3k pounds. (just my jetsled) I would love to do a small set of twins down the road and would like to incorporate the injectors from this purchase. Maybe that's unrealistic, I dunno.

So what do you all think?

Dave

With your current Turbo I'm thinking even a set of Mach 3s would be hot. Possibly a set of 2. 2s or 2. 4s might work with that small of turbo.

Call Piers and get a set of D/D Jammers. They work real well. One of my customers pulled a set of 2. 4 out and installed a set of stage 3 . He said he will never go back. Just food for thought.

"He said he will never go back. Just food for thought. "

Ok so I have thought and I am wondering why he would say that? I have 2s and I love them. Sounds like hype to me.

Dave, you asked us what do we think and I think you had better address your transmission, if you haven't already done so, before you start going bigger on injectors. What size to you have now?????

For everyday mixed use, I agree with Bob Wagner. I wouldn't go over 2. 4's especially with your turbo. No need to. If you want more fuel trade in your EZ to Rip and get a Drag Comp.

Roger

No hype. Just passing along info. I personaly have never tried Don M. injectors. My customer also stated that the jammers run cleaner and get better mpg.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I currently have a set of Don Ms 1. 5s. They work great, but as I rarely tow more than the boat, I can use more. In fact, I cannot even hit 1100 degrees even with the EZ set on the most aggressive setting. I would like to use a bigger injector and set the EZ back down a notch.

As far as the transmission goes, I have upgaded it with my preference of 3 letter parts.

I know that 2. 4s will work. The big question is, can I go bigger and use all the injector? I do not want the stalling issues I have heard of with really big injectors and a tight T/C. Also, I am grabbing for more fuel because I would like to get as far along as I can without adding the comp. I don't really need it, but I know I may want it later on.

As far as a small set of street twins, (PDR35/14-HT3B/23) type setup, I want an injector that can spin it all comfortably and not leave me wanting more. The reason for twins is to clear smoke and allow the use of a camper and the boat.

Maybe I should settle for a good single setup for now, sell the mid range squirters and go bigger when the second turbo arrives ( many moons from now... ... )

Dave

I'm running 4. 8's on my stock turbo.

Stack that with a Mad ECM, SuperChip tuner, Drag COMP, and you'll get over 400RWHP.

With a PDR CAM+Head I'm at 446 on a dynojet.

WOT, I get 1,500-1,600* @ 25PSI.

Cruising @ 55MPH I'm at ~500*, cruising 80MPH I'm at ~850*.

I haven't towed much, but I can only use what feels like I can pull with ~275RWHP. With a bigger exhaust housing, I could put more HP down when towing, but spoolup would be slower...

I can get 15PSI @ 1,250RPM.

If WOT EGT's don't scare you,, I'd try something like a MACH 4. 4

Merrick

Thanks for the response Merrick.

I was guessing a Mach 4 would be way to big short of twins. I am trying to get that perfect balance. No wire tap box, and the biggest streetable injector I can use. Of course, pinning the temps every time I get on the freeway is a bit much for me. You know, 1000hp, stock turbo, no smoke, no lag..... yeah right!

I appreciate the input!

Dave

Dave,

I pulled about 5k with a set of Hot Mach 3's and a stock turbo. I had no temp issues at all, but I was very easy on the throttle. This was in fairly flat terrain also. No fueling box either.

Bponci, im not at all doubting you or your info. There are a couple of things that could be unfair about the comaparison, mainly how old were the 2. 4's? If they were what Don is offering today, then thats fair, Don,like the others is constantly updating his products. It isnt fair to compare a set of 2. 4s from last yr ,or 2 yrs ago,to a brand new set of DD jammers. My puter from last yr is an antique, i couldnt compare it to a new one. With that being said, ill say I have a set of Dons new 2. 5 s in my dads 01 auto with the stock hy35,and if the box is kept on 1 or off, they have no egt issues with the hy turnbuckled ,a 4" exhaut and BHAF. BTW the don m 2. 5s have more power with the box off than the DD 2's did with it on level 3,and way less EGT than the d2s on level 3. Smoke is less than 1/2 of what it was with the DD injectors. BTW,The DD'2s are 2 yr old injectors. I think you'd be ok with a set of Don's 2. 5's. BTW the Don M 2. 5s make about 510 hp in my 2000 with twins. There a great daily driver injector, but then again so are his Mach 6+'s.

One other thing to consider, with Don,if you want to upgrade or have the checked,he does it quickly and for very reasonable charge, i know of 2 friends who he's updated injectors for and still hasnt even sent a bill months later. That is worth something to me. i couldnt say if DD 's level of service is the same, i do not know, but i sure know Don sure knows how to take care of his customers.

Im sure that Dons injectors work well otherwise there would be flames everywhere. Im going by feedback from my customer. The Don M injectors where about 3 months old and the D/Ds where 1 year old. The d/ds where his injectors that he pulled out to replace with the edms. Old style stage 3s not the jammers. I have installed quite a few sets of the jammers and the work well. Thats the only honest info i can give... ... ... ... . Brad

I can't speak to the Jammers, as I have zero experience with them.

I don't really feel a need to try anything else-- Don's injectors are so good. While I don't have them (yet) myself, I've installed them for others, and always been amazed at the combination of low smoke, torque, and brute HP.

Remember back in the day, when those who streeted a supermental (125hp) were considered CRAZY? Now we see people Streeting the mach 3s (130+hp) and even Mach 4s (150hp), even with just a mild turbo upgrade like a 35/40. Some are doing it on stock chargers (albeit with high EGT).

As for the street/strip injector, I have discussed this very point with Don. A Mach 3. 5 is the largest injector that a stock turbo can handle in Don's opinion, and should be enough for 500hp with a fueling box. If you don't hit 500hp with 3. 5s and a fueling box, it's not because you don't have enough fuel.....

Jammers are a good injector as long as they are flow matched to eliminate the rough idle problems they have been having.

I have also heard that you can't run a Mach 5, or 6 in the winter time above 3500 elev.

Is that true???

And why WOULDN'T a set of $$$ injectors be flow matched already??? Shoddy QC?

Are you talking about the jammers, or dons???

If you are talking about jammers, Diesel Dynamics does not flow test them. Or at least they weren't doing it 6 months ago.

I have had DD2's and the 1. 5 EDms, I can tell ya this, the 1. 5s are superior in every way. I am now on the fence somewhere between a 3 and a 4.

Maybe a 3. 99995 :--)

Dave
