I am looking at a combo of the F1 Mach 1's and a Practical Solutions boost fooler for my truck. I use it primarily for pulling a gooseneck horse trailer, about 10k lbs fully loaded. Towing is mostly in the summer months, and at altitudes up to 7-8k feet. Give me the pros and cons of this setup. Will my stock clutch handle it? Would I need a 4" exhaust? Or would disabling the wastegate be sufficient? Do the Mach 1's provide increased fuel economy as claimed? Is this a relatively "safe" power upgrade in terms of pumps, blocks, etc?

Thanks.

Jason

I just put in some mach 1. 5's. It's to early to give you a good answer but it does look like I'm getting slightly better milage at a steady speed. I don't think you'd have much trouble with the stock clutch. I left my waste gate functional but put in a boost elbow from an Edge EZ kit. That increased by max boost pressur from about 20 to 30 psi. I went with the 1'5's as they were billed as cleaner burning than the 1's, so says Don M.

Jason, Mach 1's and a boost fooler will not require a 4" exhaust or turbo change.

I know where you can find a used boost fooler. The Mach 1's will make a nice towing injector.

We tow a 13,500 lb 36' 5th wheel. With the EZ and DD2's, the stock HO clutch would slip running unloaded by nailing the long pedal at 1800 RPM in 5th gear. :( Since we had an RV rally scheduled before I could get the South Bend Con OFE installed and broken in, I unplugged the data link cable on the EZ, which made it function as only a boost fooler.

With the DD2's and the EZ in boost fooler mode, the stock clutch never slipped when towing the 5th wheel, and EGT's were excellent (1100 degF max). It's a nice towing package. :D

I have been thinking of the exact same set up for my truck. Some Mach 1's, a turnbuckle, and a boost fooler. My only worry is the stock auto :( . I run freeway and empty about 85% of the time though. When I do tow it is usually a mid-size car on a tandem axle trailer, and I always try to keep the rpms over 1700 ( usually locked out of overdrive doing 22-2500 rpms ).

So what do you guys think about that, for a stock auto truck ?
