Has anyone used both an EDM injector (what Mach #?) and 370's with a given setup? Did the EDM's make any more power and/or smoke, reduce EGT's, etc? I'm thinking about a injector and turbo upgrade, maybe a HTB2, and want properly matched injectors. I'm after good power without being a smoke pig. :-laf Oh yeah, I don't tow very often.
 
I have run both the 370's and Don's stage 4 EDM injectors. Don's injectors flow a lot and I mean a lot more fuel than the 370's. With the Stoopid that I have coupled with large injectors flow more fuel than I can burn at 73# of boost. With a 180 or 215 pump I think I would love these injectors. At the present I have changed back to a new set of 370's and am adding water methanol injection and see if that makes a difference. You don't want EDM's unless you have your set of twins on order. I used 370's and an H2E14 wastegated by Pius and made over 500 and could still tow, but an HX40 would spool faster but give about 25% less air at the top end. Towing with a 12v & 370's can be enough of a challange. I don't tow very often but have a 11,000# + 5er. that I do tow. You will need a properly set up Hybred turbo or an HX40 from Piers or? to tow a heavy trailer.

I noticed on Formula 1's web site that they no longer make the Mach 1-3 for the 12 valve, only a Mach 4 or larger. I've got a stock 160hp pump so I don't know if that pump is capable of feeding a Mach 4 injector. Can the 370's make 600hp or more?
 
I took a set of bone stock 370's to 670 hp and could squeeze over 700 out of them right now. You will see a little more of a variety of 12V EDM injectors soon!

What kind of hp range will these EDM's have? What will be their price range? If they will be way better than 370's, I can wait.
 
Given equal fuel flow I would expect Don's EDMs to smoke noticeably less and provide more power given they have 8 instead of 4 injector holes and more optimized spray angle.



Jim can you elaborate on your comment? I hear rumors smaller 12v injectors may be coming back but nothing to confirm.

Nope, nothing from me except I'll do the testing! There not new, there out there! I just though it was kinda cool someone that will actually work with me on this issue!

Are all of DonM's EDM injectors 8 hole, including the 12 valve injectors? Just to clarify the 370's are 5 hole tips. I do agree that given equal fuel the smaller, more numerous, holes will atomize better and smoke less.
 
Where can one look into purchasing some EDM injectors or see whats available?

That is a good point about the more holes at the tip increasing the atomization capability.

It is goo to hear that there is going to be more testing for the 12V engine. When I got my Stage 4 injectors from Don he said he was not going to do any more testing with the 12V because the customer base was not there. Good luck on your search for HP. I am now setting mine to tow my trailer so the max. HP is going to drop as towing and reducing smoke will be my main concern.

I only dynoed the Stage 4's once at MM. I left there and went home pulled the head and also replaced the injectors. I was so over fueled with the Stage 4 injectors that at 73# of boost I would blow white smoke from unburned fuel. The truck is smoking a lot less and has a lot more power in the upper end now with the 370's. I plan on trying the stage 4 injectors after I get it running the way I want it to. I haven't dynoed since MM but am detuning to pull my trailer. I will see what HP I can make and still pull an 12,000# trailer. I did tow at over 500 but with a single the lag was killing me.
