I've read about the return fuel line - help me understand this. Gas rigs don't have them, that I know of... . what's their purpose? If you install a pusher pump, does it relate to this line?
 
The fuel return line takes fuel from two places.



1: the injector galley in the head (excess fuel that was delivered to the injector, but not injected into the cylinder)



2: fuel bypass in the injector pump (from either the relief, or the bleed port)



and returns it to the fuel tank via gravity feed.



A pusher pump has nothing to do with this line. A pusher pump is in series with the factory lift pump.

70%of fuel is used to lube and cool injector pump and 30% to run eng. that is why gassers don't have a return line nothing to cool . Hope this helps . Ron in LOUISVILLE KYOo. :D
 
Fuel injected gassers with a fuel return line have it so they can use enigne vacuum to adjust fuel pressure when idling the vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator reduces the fuel pressure making it easier to control the amount of fuel that is injected.



From what I've seen they are getting away from that because circulating the fuel through the injectior rail then back to the tank causes the fuel in the tank to get hot because the fuel in the rail absorbs the heat of the enigne bay. And they can control the injectors more accuratly than before.

Has anyone tried a pusher pump installed with a parallel bypass that was check valved (both pumps) so that either pump would carry the truck to repair site in event 1 fails?



Any idea what the maximum pressure the VP44 should be fed with?
