Other than my speedometer reading slow and loosing a little acceleration is there anything that I am really going to regret about going from 245 to 285's?

Not in my books. You will gain a little height making that 1st step a bit tougher, but with the torgue and ATS transmission, it is a winner all the way.

Make sure the 285's will accept the width of your wheels. Don't force them on a wheel narrower than recommended by the tire maker.

I agree. They look great on my 1999 4X4 2500. I did use Hypertech to recalibrate the Speedometer and dialed it in with a GPS. The additional HP and Torque was perfect since I have an Automatic (47RE).

Go for it! I'm running 285s on my 99 & used the "Abbott ERA" to correct my speedo. I believe on the 95 model year your speedo can be corrected by changing the "speedo gear". . I dont believe the speedo signal comes from the rear wheel anti lock brake or rear wheel speed sensor.

Clay :D

Just a simple speedo gear swap and you will be accurate again. I am running 315's with 3. 54's... ... ... ... makes for a freeway flyer, with plenty of power to leave most of our chapter members Oo.

No issues in my opinion either. I am not running 285s but I am running some 37" SSR swampers and they give me no issues and surprisingly I still get 17 mpg on the freeway, believe it or not. The beauty of diesel performance never ceases to amaze me. :D

I would say do it as I have and I don't mind but the taller tire will give more sway if you are towing a heavy tag trailer. I noticed more trailer waggle with the taller tires which I could get into why it happens but its not that important. The weight rating is fine its the softer sidewalls and more of them. But if you don't tow a tag or its not over 10k I wouldn't worry about it. Also, MI speed limits are 70 at most so as long as you dont' go too fast it won't matter much either. I only have a problem when doing the 75mph speed limit out here.

I have 3. 55's and I like the extra high end with the taller tires and the engine doesn't have a problem. I didn't even notice a significant change in MPG.

Good luck

Personally I lost about 3~4mpg - but that's because I went with a more agressive tread. If mileage is important you might lose some depending on your tire choice.
