just wondering if anyone has been using efi live on the 5. 9? if so how do you like it and what tuner did you use? i hear nothing but good things about it from d-max users and havent heard much about it from cummins guys

I am interested in running EFIlive on my 2005 if they ever release the version that they say is in development for the 2003-2005 trucks.
EVERYTHING that I read about it on other forums for the 2006-up trucks is positive. Of course, it is important to use a tuner who is both knowledgable, competent and accessible.

I don't think you will see EFI for 03-05 anytime soon, if ever. It has been put on hold indefinitely.

UDC comes pretty dang close thou.

UDC is a Smarty offering?
I haven't updated my Smarty files in about 2 years. Am I missing something? I have the S06 POD. I may get my truck on a dyno soon to see how the tuning is. Maybe 400 hp. . maybe 500??? I've heard that if I only ran my larger turbo, I would make about 50 more peak hp, but obviously give up torque and spool response. Not willing to do that.
The dyno shop is owned by DuramaxTuner.com and now does EFI Live on Cummins also.

Yes UDC is Smarty's answer to EFI Live.

Where EFI lets you adjust most every table and you start from scratch UDC uses the Jr/S06/SSR base tune and timing/duration/rail pressure are 100% adjustable as in EFI.

Total power is going to be nearly the same between EFI and UDC, and driveablitily will be very close. There are a few tables in EFI that can make the tune better.

UDC has been in beta for 18 months and released for around a year. It's a great tool, and greatly improves the

While I know that it has been put on hold, I have not read that it will not come out. Cindy, EFI Lives' internet spokesperson, has indicated that eventually it will, though not necessarily soon. That being said, if EFI live does not come out for 2005 trucks, I will definitely switch to UDC at some point.

Even updating your file to to the latest will be an improvement over what you have. Noticeably smoother and less smoke.

Wasn't their a Smarty/Chrysler softeware issue last year that made the latest update with Smarty set injection return rate/flow trouble codes, including the occaional warnig bell and WTS light coming on???

Has that been resolved??

What version is the newest??

I am running Sjr. pod version# V. 5. 08a and Bob, who used to rep Smarty. advised me to stay with that until the new trouble code issues were resolved.

Mine was issued Oct 5,2012. Works fine on my '07. I have read of issues on the '05.
I'm going on seven yrs with Smarty without a glitch.
Kind of hard to argue w/success.
I'm not fond of change although the reports are universally positive for EFI.

The WTS light and detune have deemed more accurate than originally thought. I haven't seen a thread on them in a while, and from what I can tell nearly all of the cases were due to faulty fuel systems.

5. 08 was a short lived tune due to an error in the torque management. I would upgrade, the new tunes are better in every way.

With your Smarty Jr you do not have access to the Rail Pressure map with UDC, but can adjust timing/duration/tq management. I have 2 trucks I have tuned with a SJR, not including my own. It's still a far better tune, even with the OEM rail pressure map.

Thanks for clarifying!!!
