I'm considering EGR delete ONLY, but what are the more Barney like dealers saying about this? just plugging it back in (I would but suspect the history would be traceable).

I just don't want a ******* contest on warranties and know full well the magnus whatever act... . but don't want the drama or fight. Anybody with direct experience on dealing with the dealers with just an unplugged EGR history?

3500 miles into an oil change with Stratapore filter, my change oil light came on today. That Suxxxx!

I am thinking soon as this thing is out of warranty it is going in for an EGRectomy!

OK people. Bought a new 2012 two weeks ago. Dipstick was black at 300 miles.

My 03 was clean for a lot miles after the oil change. If I unplug the EGR, the

light I can deal with, but if there is a dinger, I'm done. Is this going to happen?

Got over 5,000 on it now. Headed home to change the oil and filter. Truck is great,

will do my profile after I send in my pictures of my 03 with 230,000 miles so I

can get my 200,000 mile plate.

I think you would get a ding every time you would start the truck because Dodge wanted this to be an issue. So you would take the truck to the dealer for the CEL. I know I still get dings for service required and will get dings for low tire pressure on the rear tires being set at 45 PSI.

Sorry, I can't remember any better than this. It has been a couple of years since I deleted and do not get a CEL for the EGR being on plugged any more.

Other members that are just un-plugged could chime in if they get a ding or not.

H&S is the way to go... . cant beat their tuning... . please dont unplug stuff unless H&S says to... . i have hundreds of very satisfied customers.

I'm not doing anything until I find out how to get my truck inspected if I delete the EGR.

Also, I was wondering if the frequency of the Regen increased or decreased if the EGR was deleted.

Thanks.

There should be no question whether your truck will pass inspection after a DPF delete. Deleting the DPF is altering/removing federally mandated emissions equipment. It is a violation of federal and state law. If your inspection station is aware of the alterations, your truck will not pass.

Your question should be will anyone notice. Under current inspection requirements an inspector probably won't notice and you can probably get away with it. If or when inspection standards are tightened, which is almost a certainty if the current administration is reelected, you probably will not be able to get away with it.

Thanks, Harvey. But, my question is about deleting the EGR and Cooler, not the DPF. Does your answer apply to both?

Thanks.

I'm sorry. I guess I had the hated DPF on my mind. Yes, as JMill said, any deletion or alteration is a violation and the truck will not pass if thoroughly inspected.

I live in a rural county in northwest Texas where no smog check is currently required on light truck diesels. I could delete and, for now, nobody would care. But it is illegal and testing could be implemented at any time. Or, if traveling through one of the leftist states with strict emissions rules and testing, I could get inspected. Its a big problem IF anyone is caught.

Based on what TDR member and senior Dodge-Cummins tech Mike Mullenax told me and showed me on the computer print out from my engine I would wager a large sum the answer is NO!

The ECM knows all if a knowledgeable dealer tech prints and analyzes the data.

So, it comes down to this;

do I assume that the quicky lube guy is going to open the hood when he inspects my truck; and if he does, will he know what he is looking at and that something is missing/changed?

Or, do I play it safe and just reconnect the EGR and Cooler when it is inspection time (sounds like a PITA);

So, I need to weigh the cost/benefits of doing the EGR & DPF delete vs. the cost of having the emissions get cleaned out periodically vs. the cost of "getting caught".

These emissions related CEL's are annoying!

Thanks for your input guys.

I don't understand how deleting emission equipment relates to the quick lube monkey. If he has any thoughts concerning your truck it is about the incorrect filter he's going to install or the drain plug he's going to leave loose.

Your concern should be about the state emissions inspection that you might have to go through at some time soon and the engine warranty you're going to void if you delete the emissions equipment.
