this is my first 6. 7 I had a 5. 9 for a long time and loved it dearly. I recently traded it in for my new 2012 4x4 3500 drw cc and I love it!!! the mileage i get is pretty horrible in comparison to my 06 5. 9. so my question is am i better of leaving all of the emissions stuff intact and keeping my warranty or void the warranty remove it all. i have just over 5k on it and i have only had it one month. has anyone else had any problems out of a 4th gen's emissions equipment or has it gotten better. I appreciate any info or advice anyone has on the matter thanks.

FWIW: If it was me, I would leave it stock and use the warranty as long as it lasts. The warranty will cover any emissions issues plus any other engine problems for 100k. If you are having emission issues after the warranty is gone, then I would get rid of the emissions hardware.

I don't think anyone doing emissions mods / deletes are seeing enough gain in mpg to make it worth the time and money involved.

Note: This comes from someone ignorant of 4th gens as my current ride is the '05 in my sig below.

What's your driving profile? I can see crummy mileage if you're chugging around town unloaded thereby triggering a lot of regeneration cycles. On our truck, however, we use it almost exclusively for towing our 16,000 lb GVWR 5th wheel, and its highway mileage is comparable to our previous 2002 ETH/DEE 3500 dually - 10. 2 towing @ 65 MPH and 16-17 unloaded at 70-75 MPH.

my driving is mainly highway with a mix of loaded and unloaded and towing various weights. as big as my 39ft grand junction 5th wheel down to a 16ft lowboy with a cj7 on it. i havent experienced a regen cycle yet, i guess due to the the fact that im always on the highway doing 60 to 75. thanks for yalls input i just expected better from it. the mileage on the highway towing is bad but unloaded is pitiful

I'm aware that it has gone through some regens but my evic has never chimed active regen in process like the owners manual states.

You didn't mention your gear ratio. I have the 4. 10. On the way to Virginia a couple of weeks ago I got 10-11 grossing on the scale at 25,700 driving on avg about 64. On a trip last weekend to the ranch with nothing but a pushmower in the bed I got 15 driving 65. I think that is prolly as good as I will get. I have had it seven weeks and 12k on the clock. It is stout and made to pull!! Just glad I carry 145gallons of diesel.

Okie

Mine has 3. 73 gears and 15 is the best I have gotten out of mine as well. I have considered a filter back exhaust I have read some claims of 1-2 mpg out of one. And it won't void the warranty.

Not sure I understand what you are saying here... ... ... . Deleting any of the aftertreatment will affect the warranty,removing the muffler will give you no gains.

We just used our new 2012 dually CC 4x4 Laramie Max Tow to haul our 18,000 lb 5th wheel from Amado, AZ to Sunnyvale, TX. We drove 58-62 mph and averaged 9. 1 on the trip. I had a 50 gallon Transfer Flow tank added to the bed before we left Tucson. I am glad I did. It is so nice to know that when I've used 35 gallons of diesel, I still have 50 gallons left!! It hurts the pocket book when filling it, but it sure saves having to refuel every time we stop.

I have a 2011 single cab, long bed, manual with 4. 10s, dpf + egr deletes, exhaust and a intake with a programer. When I bought it in Texas with 12000 miles on it and drove it back to Alaska I was averaging 19. 5 - 20 mpgs while traveling 74-77 mph unloaded. IDK if this helps. Around town now I get 17 unloaded.

I'm sure a few of those miles were spent on a ferry since no roads lead to Juneau :-laf

@surefire89
Thank you that's the kind of info I was looking for. Have you had any problems out of the truck at all with modifications?

I am right at 15k now and got 17. 1 by hand. This was empty coming from alabama up to elkhart INdiana. Bet it don't get that going back south.

Okie

@Megac59
The only issue I have had was with the stock G56 clutch. But I just replaced that lastweek with a valair clutch from Diesel Performance Parts and it now is getting even better mpg. I think the stock clutch just wasnt made to handle a 22 year old driver wanting to hot rod his truck.

Only from Haines to Juneau or about 75 nautical miles. Chump change compared to the almost 4000 it took to get home. :D But yes this beautiful liberal Subaru driving city has no roads out of it cause it might hurt one fishing stream along the way!!!

Please think pro build and pro economic growth for the betterment of our nation.
