If you remove the air horn is it necessary to replace the "gasket block" thats located under it where it seals? Also do I need to replace a gasket where the EGR bolts to the exhaust manifold?

Anyone who has done this, is it worth it? Would you say the performance was any better? I've got to decide if it's more headache and cost $ to do this or not.

Thanks.

easy to do, and is recommended for hp. that egr is a joke. take the tube off, put a steel shim in between the maifold and the holder, and put a shim in between the intake air horn and the egr port. Boost also leaks out of the egr valve. what should be done truefully is order a non egr ex mainfold from cummins ($130) order a 3 piece manifold from Piers(1-866-888-9396) and get a 49 state intake air horn. The calif. air horn is WAAAAAAAAAAy too restrictive. Call a wrecking yard for that or get one through Joe Donnely. Donnely's # is in the TDR mag. OH, if your truck is a 98 u could get a check engine light when disconnecting the egr.
