I've got a 96' 2500 with the POS EGR Valve. California has always felt it necessary to take perfectly great things and screw them up by adding crap #ad
.

So I've been told that removing the EGR valve is certainly possible. Is this legal (like I really care)? Has anyone gone through the trouble to do it? I've been told that it will give me more boost and top end perrormance and will also let me add the goodies I want to add. Any suggestion or information on the subject is greatly appreciated.

I also have a Cal emmisions truck. But the pervious owner took off the EGR.
You will have to get a new intake manifold, and some how block the port in the exhaust manifold. or you could replace the exhaust manifold also. My truck was done the cheaper way of just placing a piece of metal over the EGR port. This looks realy cheasy but has lasted.
Yes this is most definitly illegal to do but so is removing your Kat.

Ditto.
I know, lets put a $1000 intercooler on to cool the intake air so it will burn more efficiantly. Then lets pump the hot exhaust gasses back in to the intake and void the intercooler. #ad

I took mine off at 30,000 miles and could not believe the soot build up on the heater grid. Got a free intake from a friend who put on a Banks Twin Ram. Metal plate over the exhaust. No problems. Your check engine light will come on, pull the bulb, or jumper the system some how.

AMAZING POWER INCREASE!
Or, at the same time, I added a 16 housing, TST #5, and 300hp inj. But I'm sure it was the intake that made the difference! #ad

BTW, Kommiefornia, I gained 2. 5 MPG. Good call on the EGR valve. Morons.

EVERYTHING we do to these trucks is a felony. Tea Party anyone?

Sounds to me like its defininetly worth a shot. I'm replacing the intake manidolf this weekend anyway with the Banks Twinram, so now other than a tricking the sensor into thinking its still there I just need to block the hole in the exhaust manifold. Any suggestions on this? How was it done on yours Gene & Pat? Are there any downsides to this mod?

Thanks-
Kevin

Piers, of PDR, told me how to do it, but I never did. I have been staring at that light for over a year! Lazy. Figgered it would burn out. Wrong. Makes people ask questions. heheheheheh.

Taking the EGR off can only help things.
