This just torques me off! (scam Email)

Hello guys,

We just moved into our new house just north of Spokane and need your help.

Their are 3 open egress windows that our kids could easly fall into w/serious injuries possible. With spring here, the wifey wants this fixed now! Does any one know of a solution that would cover them from falling into but still allow emergency exit and as much light penetration as possible. I have found a co that makes them but it is like $600 to cover 2 large(40X50 incn) and one small one.

I rather use the money for bombing( who wouldn't) but i need to have it safe for the family.

I need a quick fix here boys as the wife is looking for the credit card... ...

thanks

Thanks AC

But i am looking for covers that are for basement windows. not for upstairs windows. Although i think the wifey wants those also so thanks for the link.

FYI we bought the house so it is all on us

Best regards

DD

yes they are expensive. I looked into the www.wellcraftwells.com website the other day for a customer. It turns out to do the well and cover it was around 700-1000 total. I think the covers were around $200-250 for them also.

I will check around a little today to see if I can find anything... . if nobody else chimes in with info.

We had some made by a local ornamental iron fab shop. You know the ones that sell security storm doors. They did a great job and really werent all that much. As far as safety what they did was they sat on the window well and flush against the house. The window well side had a bit of a lip so they wouldnt/couldnt slide around. Then they just screwed an eyebolt into the window well casing about 1 foot off the ground on the inside of the well, one on each end. So if you opened the window you coud reach it or at least easily get to it. They also had two eye bolts welded to the bottom of the grate (one on each end) Then they just ran some chain down from each eye bolt to the eye bolts they screwed into the window well casing. On the lower end they were just attached to the eye bolts via a screw gate/carabiner etc. You could use something like on a dog lease but as time goes by those things can rust up bad and not function very very well. As opposed to something like a carbiner. You just need something that the bad guys cant lift out or the kiddies cant undo from above yet is very easy to undo from underneath in the case of an emergency.

Actually I would not want them to be secured from the outside anyway. The point of the egress window is not only to allow you to get out in case of an emergency, but to allow the fireman enough room to get in with there equipment. If it is secured down and you are stuck inside, they would have a hard time trying to get to you.
