EGT and Boost Gauge needed?

I am getting my head gasket replaced and my cracked block repaired, and I am probably going to get 275 injectors installed while my mechanic is fixing everything else. I just got my EZ edge in today. So do yall think I need an EGT and Boost gauge? My mechanic does't think so since I don't pull any heavy loads. What would yall suggest? Also what is a fair price for new Bosch 275 injectors? The cummins certified mechanic did not reccomend I go any higher than 275 b/c i would wash the cylinders.

If you are not towing they are not necessary, however you should put them in. They alert you to problem situations before it gets out of hand and generally tell you the health of your engine in the current situation. I would recommend that you put them in, but you do not have to. This ^^^^^^ ONLY applies if you modify the wastegate with an elbow or a turnbuckle. If you do not you will have high EGT regardless of injector.



Your Cummins man is all wet about washing the cylinders. Good quality injectors will not wash the cylinders. I would recommend the DD2's or forget the EZ and buy DD3's. Just my opinion.

I'd put them in. W/ an EZ and BD1 injectors even w/ towing I never see over 1050*, but one of the main uses for a EGT gauge (for me anyway)is to monitor your shut down temps. Sometime I'm suprised at how long it takes to get below 300*.

If you haven't thought about it yet, make sure you disable the wastegate. This will help keep the EGTs down also.

If I was only going to use two gauges, they'd be a Pyrometer (EGT) and a fuel pressure gauge.



Boost is fun to watch, but a loss of a lift pump (fuel pressure) will kill your injector pump without you knowing its happening.
