I got the egt and boost combo guage from genos in the pillar mount. They do not have the agate color but I got a small can of spray paint from Dodge that exactly matches my interior. Looks great. Some of the guys don't like the combo gage but I think it is even easier to look at both readings together on one guage. Real question you need to answer is the pre turbo or post turbo position for your egt. Great article in the download section. Convinced me to go pre. Have fun.

I too am very happy with the combo gauge. Wasn't sure when first putting it in, but now I prefer both gauges together. Definately will use same thing in the new truck.

Ocean Response,
Westach makes the dual gauge from Geno's. They make some decent gauges. I ordered direct from Westach single boost/EGT/oil temp gauges @ $35 each. They have a good catalog, you can order. See their website at www.westach.com.

I really would like to get some true readings from the engine via gauges rather than idiot lights too, but I have some concern about the actual sensors holding up to the extreme environments in which they "live. " Mainly, the Pyrometer and the Boost guage sensors see some pretty extreme temperatures. I've actually blown an oxygen sensor into my catalytic converter on my car. Has anyone ever had one of these sensors fall apart and get "sucked" into the engine or turbo? Is there a recommended replacement interval for these sensors? Do the fittings ever leak? I would sure hate the "cause" of a problem to come from the "prevention. " Thanks in advance.

Hiya dresslered, The boost guage connects to the intake manifold. There's a 3/4 inch plug near the back on the drivers side. Simply remove the plug (1/2 inch sq. recessed) and put in 3/4 to 1/4 or 1/8 bushing then a compression fitting with a 1/8 tube that goes to the guage. This cannot get sucked into the engine as the turbo is providing a positive pressure, not a vacuum.
The sensor for the pyro can go either in the exhaust manifold OR the cast iron elbow after the turbo. In the manifold will give you a more accurate reading, however, there has been concern about the tip cratering out and sending pieces thru the turbo trashing it. I spoke with Cummins in Ok. City and they always install after the turbo, that way if anything happens it just shoots metal particles out the exhaust at the PSD you just passed. I just installed Isspro guages on monday and opted for the "after the turbo". It will read a little cooler but I can add 400 degrees to 900 degrees in my head real fast and get my foot out of it. Sorry bout the rambling, hope this helps ya. Lou

I just installed my boost and pyro last weekend. Both were made and bought from Westach. My boost gauge is really nice, 0-40 psi, and is a zip to install. The thermocouple for the pyrometer is super large and heavy. I don't think it will be coming off! The exhaust manifold is about 1/2" thick, so it took a while to drill through the cast iron. I am extremely happy with the gauges. The pyrometer is special order in which it has a warning light on it. It has an adjustable set point for the warning light (out put is available for an alarm as well), in which I set to 1000F. This way I don't have to monitor my gauges driving down the road. When the light comes on, I will start monitoring my driving style. BTW, the pyrometer ran about $160 with the thermocouple, the boost gauge only $40. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Michael

If anyone is planning on getting a can of spray paint from Mopar you'd better hurry. I went to get some this week and found out that they are discontinuing the spray cans. It may already be too late. At least that is what I was told by the dealership I went to. Only the little touch-up pins will be available. Went to a auto paint store to get some, $30 for a pint,WOW! I don't think so.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the good info Lou and Michael. These mods won't void the warranty in any way, would they?

I am using the mounting cup from Geno's. It is on top the dash beside the A pillar. In the new truck I will use a pillar mount, that wasn't available when I got the gauge in '96 or '97.

FF1063. I am also interested in purchasing the single Westach boost/EGT/oil guages. Do you happen to have the P/N's for these guages and their appropriate sending units? Where does the sending unit mount for the tranmission (manual) temperature guage. Thanx,
