I finally finished installing my EGT & boost gauges this past weekend.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I put both gauges in a two-hole pod on the A-pillar with EGT on the bottom.
I ran the boost tube and EGT wires through the firewall where the rest of the wire bundle exits just above and to the left of the steering column.
I originally tried to tap in to fuse #5 (illum) but this caused the pyro to only work when the lights were turned on. Based on other reports, I tried fuse #8 (radio) and this worked fine.
Power for lights on both gauges comes from a tap into the tan #14 wire on the headlight switch.
So now I have boost (running 5 - 7 pounds on level ground at 65mph and up to 21. 5 pounds on a stock engine... is this good or bad?) and EGT (about 500 - 700 on level ground and up to 1225 so far just hot rodding without any load. Boy does it come up fast!)
Everything is great... except I don't have any light on the boost gauge. As mentioned earlier, power for both gauge lights is coming from the same place and the EGT gauge has a light. Both gauges are grounded to the same place on the metal frame under the knee bolster.
These are brand new Autometer UltraLight gauges from Geno's Garage. If it is the bulb that is burned out, how do I open the gauge to change it, if indeed I can change the bulb. What is the replacemet bulb number?
Thanks.
