Okay, I've read all the threads on whether to install my EGT temp probe pre or post turbo. I'd like to put it pre turbo to get accurate readings, but I don't want to take a chance on the probe deteriating and taking out the turbo.

My question is this... Is there anyone out there that has had the probe fail and mess up the turbo? I'm not interested in someone who heard of it happening. I would like to hear it first hand...

Also, if there is someone out there that makes his living working/reparing the cummins... I'd like to have his/her opinion.

Going to install the gauges in the next couple of weeks so I'd appreciate some good, accurate, and first hand experience.

What better source than the TDR? If someone here has had that problem, I don't recall their post. Go ahead and put the probe pre-turbo, you won't be sorry you did IMHO.

EGT Installation

Thanks for your reply... . I'm leaning towards pre turbo installation but started to rethink the issue when I read some of the threads... . What I didn't see or read was anyone who put one in pre turbo and had a problem with it... .

Go pre-turbo!

I've installed quite a few. The reason there's no reports of melted probes is because no one has a problem with them. And believe me,we know guys running mid-teen temps around here.

I don't think there has been a member that has had a failure, i. e. , probe tip breaking off/ grenading the turbo. I wouldn't sweat the location, if you want to go pre-turbo, no reason that you shouldn't be anything but fine.
