Ok I will try an explain as best I can for some help. I have one ton auto that I have changed the exhaust twin muffler set up (kitty died ),PSM buick lower intake tube. But my EGT's still spike way high. My probe is right where it should be (pre-turbo) but I hit 1200 barley moving. I had to go back to stock program due to constantly being high EGT's I tow quite a bit but not heavy 7500-8000 lbs. I used the bully dog tow program. I have to take the transmission out of tow haul and use overdrive off to keep transmission and EGT's down to exceptable levels. I also have some engine coolant coming out of cap that has stained the air intake box. So do I change exhaust again or do I open up the air intake more and expose the turbo to possible damage? Or do i put better injectors in the truck? Or am I stuck stock crawling like a snail over the hills?

The newer HPCR motors run alot hotter stock due to emmissions and they are set up to run at 1350 sustained egts and are tested at over 1400 deg for short times. 1200 towing even stock isnt out of the ordinary. Most of your "tow" programs are mainly timing and a very slight increase in fuel and wont run "much" hotter than stock. If your exh. is opened up its fine as for the airbox you can run an open element filter setup for a slight gain over what you have now and most filter elements are just as good as stockers for keeping things filtered, your turbo is your EGT maker and needs to be upgraded for the best EGT reduction IMO. How hot is your transmission running? As for injectors most will be a tradeoff for EGT/power more power higher EGT's.

the transmission runs around 150-190 in tow haul,if I cut out overdrive I can keep it around 170 pulling grades then back to tow/haul for flat driving. My probe is in the cooler line. Thanks for the info on the HPCR temps. I had heard of that but was suprised how quick it built up. Then I saw the dried coolant was getting worried.

Indutstrial Injection Super Phat Shaft 62 would be the perfect turbo IMO! As for the transmission temps, they dont sound all that out of the ordinary, you have to remember that having the probe in the cooler line (which is coming out of the trans) and is the hottest your ATF should be your transmission isnt really seeing that high of a tempature because when it goes back in after the cooler its not near that hot until it leaves agin and the overall temp in your trans/clutches isnt quite that warm, but if your worried put in an auxilary trans cooler.

Thanks for the help, so with a bigger turbo do you need larger injectors to feed the bigger turbo or can I put a larger turbo on and not worry about boost pressures and head problems? As for the transmission I am going to put on the mag-hytec pan for now.

You dont need bigger injectors. Just with whatever programmer or chip your running should be more than suffecient to run the 62. As for boost pressures 45lbs should keep things nice and cool and that is more than a safe level to run without any headstuds or other mods.

i used the phat shaft 62 set up. i mess around alot and tow with edge and stock sticks. truck ran about 955 -1020 range. when i put injectors in i just pick up some extra power on take offs and picked up fuel milage. but if your running stock sticks and turbo 1200 sound about right moving about 65-70 with 8000lbs. as your mag ideia thats a waste of money if not building the transmission at this time. the 62 was 1760 shipped to my door if you have any other qestions p. m me
