egt probe drill

getting ready to do egt probe, what size is an R drill for us non machinist?

"R" is . 3390 inches. I'm guessing your probe fitting is 1/8" pipe. I've always used a 5/16" which is . 3125. Never had a problem. Use plenty of cutting oil on the drill bit and the tap.

Where would you put the probe? I have 2009 QC 6. 7 and would like to know if I drill 1 to 2 inches above the turbo, would that harm the manifold? Also can one lower the turbo 1/4" by putting a thin piece of materia on the turbo inlet to catch the filings?
