My buddy just received his guage's for his new 600. The instructions call for the EGT probe to be installed over the #3 cylinder. Is this correct? Where is everyone putting these on the 600's. The manifold does not look too different than mine, so why not by the flange? And do not respond with post turbo. :D

I don't know if the 600 is different but I put mine here on my 03 HO.

I have done 3... . all 3 on the manifold just past the #3 cylinder. They all worked fine and it is EASY to drill here as it's straight up and down and you don;t have to move or remove anything.

When I installed the last one a couple weeks ago I did the WHOLE install including wiring etc in 45 minutes.

do a search in the 3rd gen forums

there was a GREAT thread on this subject including using an infrared thermometer to measure where the manifolds got hot ... and using the discoloration or tempering for the same hot spot indications

i put the wifes in the same place rankram did ... old habits die hard

I put mine in the #3 cylinder also.

I've done 3 probe installs as well and what amazed me was XJ doin' the whole thing in 45 minutes. It took me 45 minutes to get the A pillar off:--)

The first one I did was in a triple dash pod... it took me a good 2 hours+. THe second was just the single a-pillar for Sherman from the same town I;m in... it took us less than 2 hours and we were going SLOW as we were BS'n the whole time. The third is on my newest truck and after doing Sherman's I had the exact same setup it was cake.
