Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) EGT Probe placement

I have my truck back and want to move the EGT Probe. The old one was cut while being worked on. It is currently in a welded fitting on the down pipe, I wanted to move it to the exhaust manifold. My mechanic says he sees cracked manifolds every month from drilling and tapping the cast manifold.



Is this common ?? There are only a couple of messages that even refer to cracking.



I am going to use a stainless 1/4 pipe fitting in place of the brass the BD-X comes with.

Brass is the way to go IMHO-- it's softer and won't stress the manifold as much.



Also, go with 1/8" NPT if you can-- the smaller hole is less stressful.



As for placement, I have a pic but it's on my home PC. I'll post it in an edit later.
