My 12 yr old thermocouple has died so I have to replace it . Since it has been subject to turbo heat for over 121k miles it could be a problem. Does anyone have any ideas for removal?

it was suggested by Westach to just remove he thermocouple and leave the fitting in place.

I was thinking a liberal application of lock ease or a similar listening liquid.

Have you tried to pull it out yet? You may be surprised.

I would leave the fitting and just get a new probe.

The probe will not pull out. Probably too much carbon buildup on it. Guess I will just have to drill and tap another probe hole on the other side.

Twist the probe back and forth as you pull on it. Since it is bad, slide the fitting up out of the way and just grab the top with a vice grip, it should stay together okay.

Nisaacs, Thanks, Good idea, even my weak old hands pulled it out. Now all I have to do is see if I hooked it up properly

I am sure you did just fine because you can't physically hook it up wrong, it wont let you, you have red on red yellow on yellow, one wire is short and one is long, also the diameter of the screws are different so that equals success!
