ID help on JD hi-cycle engine

i have just installed a pyro in the truck in the sig(it has a stack and needs to smoke so we are turning up the pump and bumping the timing) its on the left side bank(v-8) about three or so inches from the manifold my question is how cold do these engines run and how much will the distance affect heat loss theres no change in the pipe dia so theres no cooling from expansion the main reason i ask is im in a debate w/ my freind who says that the closer the better he has a 24v cummins and i know pre turbo is best and that theres a big heat diff pre and post turbo but thats from expansion of the air between the 2 which im pretty sure(correct me if im wrong) is where most of the cooling comes from anyways tell me what u think is there a big diff or not and how cold is this thing supposed to run bone stock i had to really work to hit 850 and the most averege is 650 running down the road around 350

I have a friend who had a 91 F-350 with a Banks Sidewinder on it. Those are the temps it would run. The pyro on the truck may have been post-turbo though. I'd say crank her up some more!

yeah im gonna crank it tweak the pump and bump the timing would put a turbo on but its 2500 bucks the trucks worth 3k so not worth especially when looking for a new one
