Competition Drag strip tire pressure on rear duals

My question is, i want to start sled pullin in the future and plan to run the TST CR along with a intake and better exhaust and before anything i will have a SB DD installed, ill be on the stock turbo for a while and i know my egts are gonna get hot while pulling, but how hot will they get and what should i set the egts at on the TST to sled pull? Some one told me that there gonna get hot and just let em in that short of a run i will be fine but that sounds scarry to me!!! What do some of u pullers think? Truck is a 06 3500 G56 just incase it dosent show up

on the stock turbo keep it at 1300-1350 or less to be safe and boost at 32psi or less, dont use alot of duration or pressure--you will be fine

On that short of a run, just put some duct tape over the guage.

Let it sit and idle for 5 min before you shut it down and it will be fine.

I've hit 1600 on mine more times than I care to count and pistons/cylinder walls are perfect.

I was wondering the same thing my self. If I can peg the gauge (1500*) just driveing would pulling be out of the question? I think so. But im not an expert, nor even close

You guys need to ditch the gauges while pulling. Josh was on track with covering it up. You wont win if your scared. And you shouldnt pull if you dont want to win.

Tractor pullers, they look at the guage. They see 1800 degrees +. I don't know what Kent Crowder, Van or Curt Haisley, or BBD for that matter see. I'd immagine, it's up there.

There was a post a while back... it may have been quite a while. But ti discussed the basic breakdown of time VS wrecking parts. Some people were conservitive, others closer to reasonable.

For a sled pull or a drag race, ignore the EGT guage. Worry about driving, the the engine do the work! For the 30 seconds your up that high (if that long) there is a slim chance you are gonig to do any damage.

I say slim because if I said no chance someone would say "I did it!"

That was my thought also. Why even worry about it. If you're going to sled pull, you ain't gonna do it on 32 lbs of boost. If you're planning on doing the best you can, just hammer it for 300 ft, and what happens, does. Other wise, better stay off the track.

Tune for power, not for temps. This is racing... If you can make more usuable power by adding air, then do so. If adding air doesn't make more hp, then don't waste the energy (takes energy to make boost, eg drive pressure). Besides the EGT gauge only goes to 1600*, so it can't get hotter then that, right? :-laf Having said that, the max temp I hit this last weekend at Redding, CA was 1500*. This was in over 100* temps.
