2014 Ram 2500 Limited 4wd 6.7 Cummins - running Bully Dog GTX as a monitor only - 76k miles
EVIC shows a message of "Exhaust System Service Required - See Dealer". At normal operating temperature,
EGT-2 (DOC Outlet Temp) shows either 40* or 5928*, both of which I believe are total bogus. All other EGT temps are within normal ranges.
Monitor shows following codes:
P2033 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 2
P24A0 - Closed Loop Particulate Filter Regeneration Control at Limit - Temperature Too Low
I assume this means EGT sensor is bad, but dealership says may be a clogged DPF filter. Unfortunately, dealership is now closed due to COVID-19.
Looking for suggestions and/or recommendations.

Since we can't post the diagnostic information because of copyright, this is what sets the code. The Exhaust Temperature Sensor 1/2 Signal circuit is above 4.88 Volts for 2.0 seconds.
So either the 1/2 temp sensor signal is shorted to voltage, the signal wire is open, or the sensor ground is open. You should always check the circuits listed first before replacing any parts, but an easy test if you have a scan tool is to short the terminals together for the sensor on the truck harness side for more than two seconds with the key on. If the code P2032 sets, the wiring is good and the sensor is bad.

If you continue to drive the truck with the active code the DPF will plug up as regen is disabled as long as the code is there. So the dealer is not exactly correct, but will be if you keep driving.

The Mopar sensor is only about $20, and all are the same on the truck, so you can also swap one, or chance the $20 and pick one up

OK, the more I think about the dealer saying it could be a plugged DPF, the more it makes me crazy that a little logic isn't applied. Now I will give the dealer the benefit of the doubt because they most likely did not have all the information to make an educated guess.
The Bully Dog can see the temps, so first off the 40° and 5928° are WAY off the normal range, and would more likely be a circuit fault. That is clue one.
If the DPF was plugged (no exhaust flow through it), why would the post DOC sensor 1/2 not read the correct temp, but pre DOC sensor 1/1 does? That is clue two.
If the DPF was plugged, sensor 3, 4, 5 would also read very low. That would be clue three.
This isn't rocket science, but many times we don't evaluate all the information to make a good initial diagnosis.

Really?
Says who?
All material from FCA is copyrighted and they have really cracked down on posting of any material on third party sites. Anyone caught posting may have their access to the information terminated. Since I rely on that information for part of my income I will not take the chance.
Although TC never admitted it, I have a feeling he might have been contacted by FCA for posting some confidential information he obtained relating to the 3.0 diesel. He had quite a few posts boasting or actually posting of insider information and trust me FCA is watching. The Italians do not put up with leaking information like the Germans did.

Update - I was able to find a dealership that was open with a Service Advisor and Tech that were willing to listen to me and review the information I had pertaining to the issue. After reviewing the data from my monitor, the Tech agreed that the issue was probably a bad EGT-2 sensor. Tech replaced the sensor and cleared the codes - all is good for now. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back to the original dealership.

Many thanks to AH64ID and sag2 for your time and wisdom. Just another reason I will remain a TDR member.

FCA should be great full for this group solving their problems for them. I think if it wasn’t for this band of misfits my self included better than half of our trucks would be sitting in the dealerships service bays not working. Our knowledge here is massive and has solved many things that had left FCA Tex’s stumped.
