I just installed my EGT/Boost/FP gauges in my truck (99 3/4 ton). I got the Auto meter stuff in the 3 pack A piller setup.

I noticed that the EGT response time is VERY fast. I use Thermo Couples @ work & they are not nearly as fast as this thing moves. I can slap the throttle & the EGT moves just about as fast as the Tach. is this typical?

thanks & sorry for the simple question.

Yes, this is typical when mounted pre-turbo. It's also what you want.

You think this is fast, try adding some bigger injectors:)

There was an article, maybe 1 or 2 years ago, in the TDR magazine about different pyros and their response times. Maybe someone will chime in with the exact issue. I believe they tested DiPricol, Autometer and ISSPRO.

Ditto on the larger injectors.

Cool, thanks mucho gents.

one other question if I might, can I get TDR back issues on line or maybe just the articles? in the FAQ section they reference TDR such & so, atricle such & so, can I just get that article on line? again I did a search but did not come up with anything (I dont wanna look like a complete rookie:))

thanks gents

Bob

The larger diameter EGT sensor on my '91 seemed decently fast when I had that truck, never had any other to compare it to - but the new truck has the Westach guages and the small diameter probe, and THAT sucker is FAST! It rises as quickly as the boost PSI does! Either a more efficient probe on the new setup, or else the smaller mass of the new one responds more quickly to temp changes...
