I have installed 275 injectors and I have also plans to install a PE EZ. The EZ should be here today, but the pyrometer I ordered is on back order. My Question is will the EGT's be in the range that I should wait for the pyrometer to show up before installing the EZ? I live at about 7500 ft elevation. And regularly tow up to 20,000 Lbs.

From my experience,I would wait for the EGT gauge. I could get

into high EGT's towing stock. GCVWaround 20,000. With the EZ

and 275's it still will only I dont' notice it getting there quite as quick. (if that makes any sense).

Here is what I found"your mileage may vary".

When pulling a good hill with trailer,if I really pay attention to Boost and EGT. . When it starts slowing ,I can "feather in a couple of pounds of boost. . get no rise in EGT and keep my speed.

Versus, starts slowing, give it more fuel and then notice EGT's are getting hot so have to back out. Not sure this would work for you

but in my case,I found it can really get into the 1200deg mark pretty easy.

FWIW

Fuzz

y2k,3500,4x4,6spd,275's,EZ and too much pretty stuff.

Be careful...

I have the exact same setup as you, and warn that you should wait for the guages.

You gotta be careful because when towing, the EGT's will be at the upper end of the SAFE zone, which means if anything goes wrong, you could be in danger zone right away. ie, if you have an intercooler leak or the like.

Generally speaking, all things going well, the EGT's are always in the safe zone in my experience, no matter how hard I push it. The highest I have hit is 1175 degrees, towing 10K WOT uphill into a headwind.

It's just that if something "isn't quite right" you ain't gonna know without the pyro.

BTW, you will REALLY like this combination. It's serious power for a daily driver.

Cheers,

With out towing, you should easily be okay. I can Barelly get my EGTs up to 1200 pre (drag racing), and I'm putting out way more power than you will be. Make sure you install the boost elbow with the EZ. You might want to look into a better air filter and/or a freer flowing exhaust, both will lower your EGT's while towing.

I'm OK running empty...

... mine's an ETH with the same mods as what you're planning and I've never seen more than 800 degrees post-turbo hot-rodding it around empty. Altitude will be the wild card I guess-I'm at 2800 feet here-with you being at 7500 feet because of the thinner air your EGT's will be somewhat higher-but ETC's are also supposed to run cooler than ETH's. I'm pretty sure you'll be OK just running around empty.

And you will love the power you get out of the EZ-I went backwards order of you (EZ first then injectors) but I still grin whenever I boot mine. However I have been bit by the BOMBing bug-so I'm upgrading my setup yet again..... topic for another post though!

Hope this is of some assistance to you

I would have to say NO!!

Take in account that you said that you are at 7500 ft elevation. You will have less oxygen (higher EGT's) at that level then what we have in Denver and when I only had an EZ box, I was able to show 1300 degrees EGT.

Just my $. 02
