I finally fitted my autometer z series pyro and took the truck out last night, I guess the temp was just above freezing out. On start up from cold the gauge read around 250* after about 3 mins ideling which I guess is about right? but when I buried my foot in the floor the temp just touched 1300* for a split second. Does this sound right with the mods I have done? ... . The truck was empty& not towing.

So do I need to worry about the 1300*? and whats my next mod to get the egt down? I guess I'm looking to get around 400hp TIA

Yes and no if all you can hit is 1300 you will be ok. But... ... Put a load in it and watch those numbers..... Most here say 1200-1300 you can run all day. anything over 1300 is on a progressive scale(higher temp-less time) I have touched 1600+ with out harming anything but it was for a short time, I think, I wasnt paying attenetion.....

Somitimes towing I will let mine get to 1200* but not sustained. Never over a minute. Better to downshift and keep them in check.

Also not sure of the accuracy of the gauge, + or - 5% would be my guess.

1150F should be the highest sustained long term on a 12-valve to keep it safe, some brief spikes to 1200 are OK but don't leave it there.

I should probably open a new thread! But what's next to reduce the temps? My next mod was to be 3k gov springs I guess bumping the timing will reduce temps, but were to for a daily driver 15. 5*?

Shoot for 15. 75 degrees but anything between 15. 5 - 16. 0 is good for stockish to mildly bombed daily driver.
