EGT Temps

I just installed Boost/EGT and trans temp gauges on my 6. 7. I have read a lot of info stating that the 6. 7's run hotter then the 5. 9's. After installation I drove to south Texas without a trailer and the temps stayed in the 850 to 1250 range. Does anyone know the maximum temp that a 6. 7 can see before problems occur?

I drove mine towing a 33ft 5th wheel from Albuquerque NM to So Calif. I watched the temps regularly get up in the mid 1400 range. I bumped it down to 5th gear and the temps would lower back to the 1300s which makes me a lot more comfortable. With no load it isn't usually a problem with them climbing.

I have seen the same temps when towing also in the 1200 to 1450F range during regen.

I don't regen any more. So that would be with a 5" turbo back exhaust, and no egr. Usually if you are working it hard it won't regen unless it is really cold out. Does a passive regen when working it.

When my truck was in stock form I easily could peg my 1500 deg. egt guage just during a regen. Granted it did not happen to often but it would.
