EGT thermocouple wire length

I'm getting ready to order my gauges - EGT, boost, trans temp - and will be mounting them in a 3-hole dash pod. I don't see a good place to run the lead wires from the thermocouple through near the center of the firewall, so I'll probably have to bring it through the grommet outside of the brake booster. That means I'll need a LONG lead wire... .



Any idea what length comes with the Auto Meter Z-series and Isspro gauge? Tried doing a search but didn't find anything that gives a solid answer.

The autometer z-series pyro has a 10' lead... and I believe the Isspro is an 8' lead.



You should be ok to run it through the large rubber boot in the firewall, just below the brake booster/steering shaft area...

if you get the isspro guage they have a amplfier box which the lead wire hooks into then the box has a wiring harness that runs up to the guage , you'll have plenty of wire to run up to where you want it. not to start anything but IMHO the isspro gauges are far nicer .

I have an Isspro pyro... . it has no amplifier box.

The wire is plenty long enough.

The ISSPRO lead is 10 ft long.

The amplifier box is only on the EV series pyrometers. I dont care for it, but like it a LOT better at night.

Even w/o the EV pyro- amp box, I had plenty of lead to run to the firewall, then behind the engine, and through one of the grommets on the driver's side, then up to the dash above the radio. Still had 2' left over. Have fun. Let the BOMBing begin.

Well, went ahead and ordered the Isspro gauges from Geno's, and a 16cm housing from Piers - figured I'd spread the wealth and give my business to a couple of the TDR supporting companies. Hopefully there won't be any surprises during the install - maybe someone can distract Murphy for me.

I should have that covered- working on my brakes (hydraulic bleed off somewhere) and then maybe a friend's 6. 2 that wont start.
