Gentlemen of the TDRoundtable,

Who among us would be interested in an adjustable EGT warning light? The EGT gauge I have in my truck is the most important and the most monitored and as such I have the instrument in an A pillar mount. When running loaded (towing) EGT is fairly easy to keep track of, but when un loaded and on the smoke, things happen very fast and I find it harder to monitor the EGT. I have not worked out the details, but if there is enough response I will send off a letter to Autometer regarding the feasibility of such a retrofit to existing gauges and to the possibility of a stand-alone system. (Another hole to drill and tap in to the manifold?) Or using the existing T. C? I am sure this can be done as Autometer has a system they call Tri-Alert which can be hooked up to any of the 90 deg sweep electric gauges they offer and will trigger warning lights at any point chosen. The EGT gauge I have is a 270 deg sweep ultra-lite so I assume the Tri-alert will not work with my existing gauge. I would appreciate any comments, ideas or thoughts on this and if you are, in any way, interested please speak up. Pardon the long post.

That ought to be fairly easy. All the EGT is is a low voltage meter. Just measure the voltage required to get it to read critical temp and then drop a relay. I know a electronics gee-whiz who could do it if there is enough interest.
 
Turbo, get an SPA digital guage. It has the idiot light already in it and it will record peak boost and EGT values since the last time it was reset, then you will KNOW how your truck is treated if others drive it.
