What kind of temps have you hit when racing? Is it safe to spike the egt numbers for a second while draggin? The hottest I have hit for a short burst was 1475 how much higher can I go before I melt something? Thanks in advance :D

Pegged at 1600* at about the 1/8th mile. Its ok just dont hold it there for minutes on end. Electrical tape works well to cover the gauge and keep you from feeling too guilty. :-laf

I have over 100 passes at 14-15 seconds burying a 1600 degree gauge. (1/4 mile) I hope to have a 100 more this year without any damage. We will see:D

Yep, me too. Its kind of fun to watch how far that auto meter needle will go!!!

At 680 HP what do you think the temps would be?1600---1800----2000-----? Stupied hot for sure.

I forgot I installed a boost cooler from Snow Performance. The temps did drop below the 1600 degree mark at the track a couple of weeks ago at near eighty degrees ambient.

You guys probably don't have any valve seals left. Every head I have worked on that was subject to those temps, had melted seals. Good news is no cracks.

Nope, it will all come out soon for a fresh short block and head check, why you worried:p

Still made 783 yesterday worn out and everything!

Seriously, it's better to keep it at the 1600 range, that's what the water is for! When I do tear it down I'll give a full report.

Thats the reason i put the snow kit on. I kept seeing my gauge go to 1600. I still need to do some tuning. I am in the process of gathering parts for twins to give the temps a real fix...
