EGT 1800 degrees for 10 secs is not nearly as hard on a truck as EGT 1400 degrees for 10 mins imo.

SO...

that guy towing his RV up a 6% grade at 80mph is abusing his truck a LOT more then a sled puller!

i agree!! Oo.

so i should be good on a 1/4 mile run with a low 14 second truck. .

I'm not a 1/4 miler there's several here that can pitch in. But I don't hear about them blowing engines at the strip.

Boost management and transmission/drivetrain are the issues to work out in terms of breakage I think. That goes for most forms of diesel performance competition with a CTD.

Heck... how many times did Bully Dog run that truck down the strip with no coolant?!! And they won pinks with no coolant... :-laf And I think it was the turbo that came apart from over heating!? Or did something blow thru the turbo that caused it to come apart?

That hot is never really safe but imo it's not excessive risk until you get to about 20 secs.

Just how long do you think a typical yank lasts?

Ha! Yes; yes; I do. No doubt. Teach me Master. If the answer has check book or money order or cash in it anywhere I'll get a new teacher; I'm already going broke here.

Speaking there re: heat damage.

Lot's of other fun stuff to break!

Yeah Slaughter been there for a while now.

Tom just wait until you come to Indiana you'll have some competition... . :-laf

Not sure that I'm that heavily fueled in the scope of things but I have seen 1500-1600 many times while doing 5x5 roll-ons. 10 secs max so never even worried about it. Did get a little squimish on the Superflow load dyno when the coals were poured on at 1600 and it let it drag it out to redline over 10 or 15 secs or so. Saw 1605 at 580hp. That was the hardest my truck had been worked lol.
