On the way home this evening me and one of my buddys from work were playing around with our trucks as we turn up a hill on the way home we haft to blow the soot out of them a little. I started up the hill in fouth went to fifth

gear and held in down I looked in the mirror and looked back at my heat gauage the thing was around 1300 pre trubo. Only for a few seconds! My truck only has Jammer 1's . I have A 4 inch exhaust and a K&N drop in.

Thinking of putting the reduced boost elbow back in but woried 25 to 30 pounds might hurt the turbo?? Also my injector pump is on the way out

new one is laying in the floorboard as we speak #@$%!

Chuck the K&N and get a BHAF or one of the aftermarket air filter setups.

Assuming you are still using the factory airbox?

I removed the snorkel and drilled 8 holes in my airbox... ... Not worth it.

The BHAF (or others) is the only way to go.

Let it BREATHE... .....

With the 4" exhaust... . This will help some...

I replaced my K & N with a stock air filter then replaced that with a BHAF.

I am not a fan of the K & N air filters (or any oiled type). But I know that they flow more air are often used and quite popular.

When you install a BHAF realize that you are doing this at the expense of cold air. After reading this TDR thread I did some research which is the last post in the same thread. If you are interested take a look.

Depending upon what you do with your truck (other than racing up hills :)), EGT's might suffer some what from a BHAF.

My 02 HO would hit 1300 degF pre-turbo EGT when towing a 5th wheel RV back when it was absolutely stock except for the dealer-installed Jacobs exhaust brake. With the EZ and boost elbow, BHAF and Jardine 4" exhaust, EGTs dropped to 1100 degF, primarily because of the increased boost pressure (30 PSIG) and resultant increased mass airflow.

I replaced the boost elbow with one that came with a edge ez a friend had. This helps

Boost comes up quicker and more of it. Problem is that running this causes a 0234 over boost code. I figure this will cause the truck to defuel? I figure I need a boost fooler . But I don't need any more power on the stock clutch. Just need the boost fooling. Any ideas on a good product that would solve this.

You can buy a boost fooler and it will work. But the Smarty is probably a better overall value.

LOL!! :-laf

I did that same test months ago on my truck. Pretty funny..... I thought I was the only person that would do something like that.....

Did you put the thermomter in the "hole" too? I had about the same results. My temps. were even higher than yours when shut off (hotter than 40 hells down here). It cools off almost immediately after It is started though.

Thanks for the link though... .

LOL :) Like minds I guess... .

I have my thermometor taped onto the air horn now. The most I have seen is OAT + 25F, but I have not run too much loaded yet.
