egt's running higher than normal

I think my EGT's a running high my truck is stock it has 13k on it mostly highway. I run this hill my by house regularly and the egt used to get to about 1000 now im hitting 11-1200*. and I used to cruise at 600-650 now i am running a constand 650+ at cruise. My transmission temps hit 180-190. I have no exhaust restriction that i know of and the air cleaner appear good. Oh also my MPG seem to be down used to get 15 around town douwn to about 12. No diesel smell truck has the same power. everything looks good any ideas?

Summer temperatures? Higher intake air temperature causes higher EGT and coolant temperature.

might also be the fuel filter being dirty.

Bad injector, check oil via dip stick for over fill

I can almost guarantee it's a combination of summer temps (10%) and a restricted air filter element(90%). Change that and your EGT's will go down and your mileage will go up. Even if it's 100 degrees outside that's 1000-1100 degrees cooler than your EGT.



The others that have posted all have valid and good ideas regardless and I do not want any misunderstandings about that.

My EGT's go way up with this truck on HOT HUMID days!

Usually a 100* increase.

I noticed on my truck if I turn on the air conditioning, and it's hot out(90's), my EGT's run about 400° pre-turbo at idle. Normally they run about 300°.

I attributed it to the air conditioner condensor being right in front of the intercooler.
